One thousand iBooks vs. many thousands of people. The gates opened at Richmond International Raceway at 7am and the stampede began.

Henrico County is offering 1000 used iBooks for sale for $50 to Henrico residents. Despite the increased police presence, it was not an orderly event. Many people were injured when the gates were opened and the rush began.

We're told some people have been waiting in line since 1:30am. Gates opened at 7am and the sale gets underway at 9am. Officials will only sell one computer per person and you must be a Henrico County resident. Bring a valid driver's license, a voter ID card, or a tax bill as proof of residency.

One woman went so far to wet herself rather than surrender her place in line.

I cannot believe this...

I sure do hope it was a nice laptop. Maybe it had an image of Jesus or something burned onto the screen or carved into the case, I would have done the same thing, or worse for something that spectacular. LOL

The 7 and 8th picture of the old people frozen with fear looking like deer in the headlights is great! I wonder if they even knew what they were there for. ;)

I am sure their ungrateful grandkids probably sent them there to "Get Me A Laptop Now, Grandpa!" LOL

This is the funnies stuff ever. I will never donate my old laptop to charity from now on . I shall leave it in a big open field with tons of Knives and weapons lying around and then open the gates.

It shall be awesome , much better than getting a 100 tax writeoff. With any luck i should be able to harvest a few human organs to sell later and make my money back. Must carry dry ice and boxes.

It doesn't look like they were moving too quickly, but I hope they got one either way. What I don't understand is how did they get that far? Did the guards at the gate give them a little head start?

A little headstart, they guards probably opened the gates a day early for them. Why do you think people started rioting. I wonder if that old guy is the one who trampled the baby stroller or was smacking people around with the chair? He looks pretty violent.

Where is moshzilla when you need her, she would have been able to get one. :claps:

No one liked my perfectly legal human organ mining idea :(

i think people on here have learned to zone you out when you say weird things..

This is insane. I had read about this deal about a month ago and was seriously thinking about calling up my friend in Richmond and asking him to get me one. I can't believe this went on... so happy I didn't embarass myself and make him go down there. I figured it would be a big crowd, and people would get turned down, but not a trampling! I also thought about going there myself, since it was a great deal, and I'm glad I didn't because I didn't realize you had to be a Henrico county resident!
