My two cents
This is just my opinion and experience, but Wine.com is a NIGHTMARE!!
I ordered a wine gift subscription back in the end of November for my sister for Christmas and the order has been nothing but trouble. Here's the
abridged version:
Although I was promised shipment the week of December 20th when I placed the order, I received an e-mail a couple days after I placed the order with a tracking number stating that the first shipment would be shipped on December 1 or so (almost 3 weeks early). I then called and was told it was an error (even though I got a UPS tracking number) and it will be shipped when promised. Not feeling comfortable with their Customer Service, I sent several e-mails and made several calls a week or so before the 20th and up to an including December 23 and I was promised up and down and assured that everything was fine and I was even told that the bottles would be delivered on the 24th (even better, so I thought).
Christmas came and went and I never heard from my sister, so I called wine.com on the 26th and was told there was a problem with the shipping and it wasn't sent.
:banghead: As a result, I sent the most scathing e-mail I could muster (which can be pretty darn brutal) to their customer service asking for my e-mail to be sent to the President of wine.com, as well as a manager and I got a call a day or so later from a "big cheese" at wine.com. He apologized for not getting back to me sooner because he was on vacation (during the busiest time of the year for them??) but he was nice enough. By the end of our conversation, he was to credit me $30 for the shipping I paid, he added an extra bottle to the first shipment, added a fourth shipment of two bottles (even though I paid for only 3) and he overnighted a nice letter to my sister (and copied me) explaining when I ordered the gift and that the delay and shipping problem was 100% their fault.
FYI although it was supposed to be a 3 month subscription, my sister ended up getting the December shipment around 1/6, the January shipment around 1/13 and the February shipment on 3/4 ("due to a distributor error"). Who knows when the "free" March shipment will be sent.
But I did confirm that it will be sent.
End result: Assuming they come through with their 4th "free" shipment, I gave my sister 9 bottles of decent wine for around $55 including shipping.
I still wouldn't use wine.com again!
You can take the toothpicks off your eyelids now.
Can you believe that this really was the abridged version? There were even more problems that I didn't mention.
Good luck if you use the coupon codes!!
