The RCA DVD recorder is a piece of junk. Read the reviews of Amazon.com. Also, I own a similar model from RCA. The time randomly changes (we've turned off auto time updates from PBS, but to no avail), the thing sometimes won't power on (have to unplug and replug it into the wall several times), it sometimes won't read DVD disks, and it starts skipping songs when listening to music on a CD. The thing is an absolute dog. I won't purchase another RCA
