Xbox 360 Arcade System Core Bundle for $199.99 Shipped

This is not really a deal; the price is being dropped on all of the xBox models.
 
Is there any difference in the unit itself besides no Hard drive? I assume they all have HDMI now and can play all the game right?
 
Personally I would spring for the 60 gig model for $299 - I just got one and love it. =)

The difference between the models are:

1. Hard drive space (256 mb vs 60 gb)
2. 60 gig has a headset
3. 60 gig has a network cable
4. 60 gig has HD cables vs standard
5. 60 gig can play original xbox games (requires harddrive)

I believe upcoming games will make more use of hard drive and also you will not be able to download demos/keep music, movies, misc media on there.

ya all console models are identical when it comes to internal things. only things that varry are external things like hard drives (upgradable at any time), cables included (all have hdmi port), paint job, chrome trim. i'd advice people to get a pro tho b/c when they release a software update for the 360 you'll be able to install games to allow for better load times.
 
Since this is regular price, I guess it can't hurt to state that you can get 10% cash back from buy.com by going through a certain site called rebation, or perhaps you'd prefer to pick one up through zappos using live.com's cash back for 9% off (used to be 30% but they lowered it :mmph:)
 
360 maybe cheaper, but the PSTRIPLE is a better value IMO despite it's higher price tag.

Both systems got some mighty foine games coming up for the remainder of the year. My wallet is going to get critted pretty bad starting October (LBP, RB2, R2 LE, GoW2 LE, ME).
 
Being that M$ charges $100 for the 20 gig drive and $180 for the 120 gig drive, you're better off getting the Pro or the Elite.

These things come in a proprietary casing so you can't just go to a store and buy a computer/laptop/usb drive either.
 
Good ol' MS ripping people off. Although I did recently hear they finally started turning a profit on the XBox franchise.

Not bad, at least you avoid tax. It doesn't come with a harddrive, but the 120 GB hard drive is getting a price cut from $180 to $150, so technically it is $50 cheaper than the elite. And you get 5 arcade games.

i think the elite, you'll get a headset, an HDMI cord, and the black paint job.

I did see clearanced 20 gb hard drives for I think 60 at target...still not a great deal $ per gig but that's MS for ya.
 
imo 360 is a better value if you're looking to use it for gaming.
 
I'd actually grab the elite model from amazon for $399 -- it comes with a $60 gift card now so it's only $40 more technically for the HDMI cable, audio adapter, 120gb hard drive, and black color.
 
I agree that the Elite is the better deal - especially now with the price drop and the deal ScubaCat mentioned.

If you are a casual gamer and don't intend to play very often, the Arcade console is fine. If you intend to play more, you'll want to go with the Premium or Elite. The extras included make them worth the price differences. The memory/hard drive is needed to save gamer settings, game saves, downloaded arcade titles and original Xbox titles, DLC ("downloadable content", which are game extras that are released periodically) and any videos purchased from Marketplace. While the attachable hard drives are proprietary, you can connect external hard drives via one of the three USB ports. It's even possible to make your own Xbox 360 hard drive using an internal SATA hard drive. However, it helps to be a little tech savvy and a have bit of patience to do this.
