Yahoo!-bay..? - Web Auctions Without Fees

Wonder how eBay feels about this...?

Yahoo ditches fees on U.S. Web auctions

eBay is laughing all the way to the bank. How will Yahoo be a viable and profitable competitor if they don't charge fees?

Personally, I've looked at the Yahoo auctions a handful of times and never saw anywhere near the quantity and variety of items that eBay has. Where else can you buy a cool gnome like this:

Yahoo? I don't think so. ;)

Well they have to secure a customer base first, so this is a good way of doing it. remember Big daddy Ebay started off as a company made by a guy so that his girlfriend could sell her hand made jewelry on auction.

Its a tough idea to financially plan but i guess it could be yahoos last plan before they close the auction division.

From what I understand Yahoo auctions have been around for a long time, so I think their customer base basically is what it is, but I agree that this may be Yahoo's last swing at the auction ball.

I didn't know that was eBay's origin. Hopefully the girlfriend got some "real" jewelry, stock options and then some for starting the landslide. ;)

I have gone to Yahoo Auctions several times and I hardly ever find anything in the catagories that I'm looking for. I really don't know of any other auction site besides ebay that has a large customer base.

I think in exchange they have many ads all over their search result page. Not too pretty.

I read about this, pretty cool.

Just make a 1 cent auction on Ebay that sells info to your Yahoo auction & save a ton.
