My darling bought me a beautiful heart shaped diamond pendant on a chain for Valentine's Day. Not exactly what I'd have picked, but heck, I gave him an absolute "A" :bigok: for not only the effort, but actually going to the mall to buy this. :claps: Even though it's not really my taste, I am now wearing it with a smile because I know he took time, thought and hard earned money to buy it for me. Not only that, but he also bought a different chain for it because the one it came with was, in his words, "flimsy."
BUT, here's the twist...
I saw it came from Zales Jewelers. Well, I KNEW I had seen a coupon for ZALES.COM on SPOOFEE. So, I took the heart pendant back to Zales and bought it on ZALES.COM for the same price and got to use the $50 coupon.
THEN, I realized, after looking at the receipt, on the bottom of the receipt it had a $50 coupon which was valid on any purchase of $100 when you completed an online survey, and could be used at any regular ZALES stores (on their Outlet, and not on line).
So, I marched back with the other chain he bought, which originally was $200, but was on sale for $100. I returned it and bought it right back, gave them the $50 coupon, and ended up paying $50 plus tax.
Doing this saved $100 for him. Now I know he didn't mind, he knows that I'm a true bargain hunter - but is this going a little too far? I mean, this would have drove me batty, knowing I could have saved another $100 dollars.
Now, explaining this to friends, family - they must think it's become an obsession - I'm afraid they may be right!
