It's a fancy gadget that makes rice really well and it's fully automated. It also cooks other things too. If you like gadgets, it's great. If you don't, I would pass.

I have a cheap Chinese fuzzy logic type rice cooker and it cooks rice great. It basically has a little computer in it with sensors. It adapts the cooking cycle to the type of rice, the amount of water, the temperature of the room, the difference in heat between the bottom and top of the cooker, built in timer and scheduler, firmness selection, etc... You can pretty much load these up and have dinner ready when you get home or breakfast ready when you wake up. The only thing they don't do is clean themselves and fix your sink.
