For my buddies still dialing in, there's no excuse to not switch to faster speeds. :bigok:

$10 DSL Service

Here are some parts of that article:

The $10 offer is available to customers in the 22-state AT&T service region, which includes former BellSouth areas, who have never had AT&T or BellSouth broadband....
...Local phone service and a one-year contract are required. The modem is free.

The service provides download speeds of up to 768 kilobits per second and upload speeds of up to 128 kbps, matching the speeds of the cheapest advertised AT&T plan, which costs $19.95 per month in the nine-state former BellSouth area and $14.99 in the 13 states covered by AT&T before the acquisition.

The agreement with the FCC required the company to offer the plan for at least 2 1/2 years.

Another concession to the FCC is yet to come: a plan for DSL that doesn’t require local phone service. AT&T has another six months to introduce that option, which should cost at most $19.95 per month.

Thanks for the post, aZTEC..I have BellSouth/AT&T as a phone service provider and I am still using dial up because dsl is not available in my area yet!! They said that they would notify me when it becomes available. I wanted to go through my cable company, but my cable bill is high enough as it is!! :verysad:

Thanks, this is great!!
I was not with Bell South so I just switched which gave me more options for about the same price as my Embarq service. Now when my new service is up and running I can sign up for this. Here is the part of their site that has this offer, you need to ask for it from what I understand, but it is available.

thats great Kalina! =^)
I'll edit the post to include bellsouths page as well. I only did ATT since its whats what I have/offered here in the DFW area.

What other charges are there? I know you can get it for $10 a month from RedShift, they only serve central Calif. But there is a $99 activation charge.

Boo Hoo, just got and e-mail from Bell South, the do not have phone service for my address, gee you would think the on line chat representative that helped me yesterday would have know that, oh well.

I'm an AT&T phone customer in Hannibal, Mo. I have a slow Internet connection and wanted to take advantage of the $10 deal. Missouri is supposed to be one of the states included in this deal so I spent a lot of time trying to find out how to sign up. I finally ended up calling one of the 800 numbers. They said it isn't available in my area. I am wondering what areas are included.
Is it just for former Bell South customers (I had Southwest Bell)?

I forgot to add that I did have DSL with SWBell several years ago (which wouldn't disqualify me from this offer). I was surprised that AT&T said it wasn't available to me.

yeah that is strange, well i know that they are both merged... so unless they have old records i wouldn't see why you would be DQ'd from it.

I'm curious if they said that because:
a) they dont have dsl service available at that area anymore
b) the rep has not been informed of such offer, then escalate to a supervisor.

many times when i worked at a call center we were never informed until we received constant calls regarding the same issue and caught the supervisors attention... THEN we were emailed a memo in regards.
