American Express will have only three 2005 BMW Z4 3.0i roadsters for $5000 (MSRP $42,500), "up for grabs" and available for purchase on Monday, December 13 at 12PM, 4PM, and 9PM ET ("while supplies last")

Yeah, right.

Doubt the chances of actually getting this car for that price would be that high, but I thought it was an interesting way for AMEX to promote their card.
 
wow, i might get the card jsut to try and win it.

if nothing else id go on teh free trip get the car and then sell it for a 35,000 profit :D
 
They ran a promo like this last week.. One item each day.. Day 1 was the Z4, the next a PDA Phone, a watch, tv, etc.. I tried... Oh how I tried... The way it's setup, it's pretty impossible to win because of how the whole thing is setup.. They must have lazy butts in the IT or Web dept...

I know! I saw that ad, and at first thought to myself, "I don't have an Amex card, but maybe I should sign up for one". This thought lasted for a nanosecond, before reality sunk and I realized there's NO WAY I'd get it. That, and like spazntwitch said, Oh, to have $5k indeed!
 
Well, I do have amex, and could front the money and will try.. But I don't have many hopes tho.. I tried before and lets just say the server wasn't pretty....
 
Whatever Amex card you use (and you do have to pay with an Amex card), it has to have not only a 5k+ limit, but have 5k+ free on it. I also considered signing up for the card, but I doubt I'd get a 5k+ credit limit off the bat.

...and remember, there's vehicle licensing fees, tax, registration, blah, blah, blah...so it's not just $5k we're talking about here.

Ya never know, ksocia, it seems like credit card companies are giving away their card nowadays like it's candy. I am definitely not urging you to get it, but just thinking that you might have a shot IF you REALLY wanted this card.

Good luck to you CozKramer w/ getting that snazzy car. Say, did you ever go to IKEA dressed up as a gift? Just wondering!
 
Ummm.. Sorry here but the perk of Amex is There is No Limit.... It's a card that not everyone can grab because of such perks. Visa/MC/Discover all have set limits which makes them alot more common. Tho Amex must be paid all at once whereas Visa/MC you can make payments with. Unless you have an Amex Blue card, they'll allow payments on that one. I was at Enterprise the otherday and an actor from a UPN show was there to rent a big ol suv and he paid with a Black Amex card. Try getting one of those! lol..

<sigh> No, I never went to Ikea dress as a Gift or in White.. I sat content here at the house looking over the stuff I've snagged for X-Mas.. lol

Hey CozKramer, you could still make the "wear white" day @ Ikea, that's this monday, dec 13! c'mon, who says you can't wear white after labor day? i'm actually considering it :D
 
Jeez then.. Got a lot going on Moday then, specially if I throw in Ikea.. Hmm.. The real question then becomes not would I do it, but could I... I'm a Übür geek and own only dark goth colors.. Well, okay, I own some TieDie stuff as well... heh-heh

Your parents probably didn't tell you so that you wouldn't go and do something rash w/ their card, like rack up a $5000 charge for a BMW, although that would seem like a fairly sensible deal if you ask me ;) .

You could bleach the heck out of one of your lighter, less goth shirts & a pair of pants et voila...white (or maybe off white) clothes with a lovely chlorine aroma!

I agree with penpen on the why the 'rents didnt say anything.. But also agree that 5k for a new car is a steal! Sure, there's another $2500 or so worth of additional costs, but still... Less then 8k for a 45k car? Momma didn't raise no fool.. =D
