After writing this, I had to apologize for its length.

SharonL, that is just one of the many things wrong with our society in this country. You are guaranteed the right to speak your mind, no matter what you say or about whom. People seem to think they have a right to not be offended. Wrong. I have the right to speak my mind and voice my opinions about whatever I want. If Im offending you, then leave or dont listen. You have no rights to be in a safe little bubble where no bad words get in or where everyone has your opinion (using 'you' as a general term, not about Sharon). In this spirit, I offer my true opinion of "the president".

Being from the south it takes a lot to get me to call someone a hick, a redneck, or what have you. George W Bush is a 4ucking redneck hick. How many times do you think his aides have told him, "Mr. President, its new-clee-ar, not new-kew-lar."? Does he care, maybe but even if he does hes dumb as a post and cant get it into those ginormous ears of his. If he cant grasp that simple fact what hope is there that he will unsderstand the nuances of the Middle Eastern cultures and political systems? It is his fault that we were attacked. If he would mind his business and not worry so much about the oil futures and such we wouldnt have nearly this big of a problem. He is a dimwitted, self concerned, agenda planning moron and I wish someone whouldve shot him six years ago. Hell, I wish someone whould sneak into the White House (or his ranch since thats where he apparently spends most of his time) and strangle him with a garrot and a length piano wire before flaying him open using the desk in the oval office as a sacrificial altar.

The constitution also grants us the right- hell, it even encourages us to rise up and overthrow the government if at any time we, THE PEOPLE, decide that the government is no longer acting in what THE PEOPLE deem to be the best interests of THE PEOPLE. But somehow, somewhere along the way it became treason and a high crime to speak against the president. Did you know that soldiers are legally forbidden to speak badly about the 'Commander in Chief"?

As much as I love America, I love what it used to stand for. Now were just a big bully on the international playground taking people's lunches. I support our troops, but I dont support the government or the war.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have a flag to burn. And a bra.. Does it matter if its not my bra? ;)

Leave my bra alone.....:o

I kinda agree with you Squid, but where I differ is that while voicing your opinion, you don't have the right to insult those who differ from yours. I.E. So-and-so's and moron and it was idiots who voted to put him there.... I don't necessarily believe in name calling but absolutely calling people on their actions. ;) I.E. So-and-so did xyz which is wrong, self-serving, etc., etc.....

I'm not a whole hearted supporter of Bush, but who else was there to vote for??? Who is there going to be to vote for....I certainly don't want to see Giulianni there (they keep threatening that here). :o I don't see any shinning candidate for the job....

:bs:

I am talking about rights, not ethics. I have the right to say anything I want about anyone I want. It may not be fair, it may not be polite, it might even be downright mean, but I have the right to say it whatever it is. People do not, on the other hand, have the right to make me stop because it bothers them. I do not believe in sugar coating. I believe in the brutal, unequivocal truth, no matter what it is.

I'm a whole hearted unsupporter of that dumbass. Who else was there to vote for? You realize that there always at least two candidates right? Who will there be to vote for? Thank god, there'll be anyone but bush. I would vote for Mr. T before I voted for bush. Ever.

Come on, Sharon, tell us how you really feel.:cussing: :cussing:

Squid, you are the man......and I know you are smart. ;) But if you insult others while expressing yourself, your opinion will get lost as others won't consider your 'valid points' but will be put off/sidetracked by the insult to them.

Give me my bra back....theif!

I never was a Bush supporter but when he said "Bring it on" I lost all faith and respect in him as a human being. This wasn't a bar fight we were talking about, this was young people who he sent over there and he has changed the reason why we are in this war so many times my head spins. He is the most arrogant ,dishonest president we have ever had. There's my two cents.:money:

Thatnks! ;) I appreciate that, and thats a good point, but but thats not the point Im making. Im only talking about rights and why people dont exercise them. Not about interpretations, or comprehension of my opinions. This is all political theory anyway.

Theres nthing wrong with being polite, waxedstrong, as long as its true and not fluff. Besides, I feel like being polite just beacause its the polite thing to do is crap. Be honest. Be true. Be yourself. Be who you are on the inside, on the outside. Above all else, to thine own self be true. I will not sugarcoat or be diplomatic when Im talking to my peers. With children and the elderly, its different.

You know I love you (almost) all, and Im not trying to belittle anyone elses opinion.

You know, I do the same thing. Here is my opinion, and this is what I think, but then I add, 'I don't want to offend anyone', or 'sorry, but that's how I feel'. I hate that I do that, and have tried so hard to correct this of myself.

And I agree, we have the rights to our opinions and the right to leave or not listen if we don't like what someone else is saying.

I think we have all become so acustom (sp) to not wanting to offend anyone that we add it at the end of our sentences, but we really don't mean it. I know I don't when I say it. But somehow, it just comes out. And when did this happen to us that we want to apologize for everything we say. I know that when I do, I feel as if it doesn't make my opinion count since I have to apologize for saying it to begin with.

And as for the president? My dogs could run this country better than him. If he were left alone, I don't think he could find the front door of the white house.

yeah stupid Harvard graduate hillbilly.

I get the impression that you are in favor of Dubya..

I know people from highschool who werent very bright. Their father was, however, very rich. This is much the same situation as the Bushes. Dubya is dumb as a rock and his father and grandfather are very well-to-do. I dont believe that you think every graduate and every new recruit is chosen on merit alone.

Give us some reason besides being a harvard grad that makes him have any skill, tact, or ability to lead this country which, before he got hold of it, was a well respected nation. Now we're just a big joke. Thanks Dubya. Of course, Its not all his fault. Some of the fault has to lie with his cabinet... oh wait, thats right, he chose them.

Lets just use the Carl Rove issue as an example. Pres said that if Rove had anything to do with leaking the CIA name he would be fired. When Pres learned that Rove was involved, he changed it to if Rove has broken a law, hell be fired. I am a firm believer in doing what you say you will do. Word is bond. But I guess thats just me.

You join the army/navy for a reason.....to protect our country....i love how ppl blame bush when their son/daughter dies in the war like its his fault...i support the troops 100% but if they didnt want to be in the army/navy whatever why are they there? i also support bush! i dont agree with some things he does but if he wasnt in office right now our country would be worse then it is...

I don't see how we could be in worse shape. Noone respects us. The economy is crap. And all he worries about are his oil interests. He is not for the people.

Brutus for President, indeed! Can my Bubba be his running mate?

SyLeNt, I agree about the recruits for teh military. And about the parents who blame the pres when their child dies. The soldiers know whet might happen when they sign up. I also support te troops, But I support bringing them home more than support them in the war. The president is to blame because he started the war, not because my relative joined the fight.
