Nothing with these companies is "free".. They'll make stuff up just to sell you something...
What's so hard about getting your car up on stands and rotating your own tires? How hard is sticking a penny between the treads, or looking at the wear indicators? It's not rocket science reading the wear pattern either.. Brakes, easy if you have disc brakes, just measure how much 'meat' is left on the pads..
I digress.. I know this is for ppl who just get in the thing and drive.. So I'll make a few words of caution before you go driving into these places. Before you get in the car to drive there, take a look at all your tires tread, how worn are they.. Put a mark on each wheel that signafies where it 'came from'. If they try to sell you anything, or say your brakes are worn, ask to see your car to verify they are indeed worn. Same with tires. If your in a rainy/snowy area, 5/32's is the wear point IMO, dry land 2 to 3/32's properly inflated. No matter what they say is wrong, if anything, ask to see it on the car, before they touch it. Always remember, your never obligated to have them do the work. They can try and cite 'safety issues' and other BS. It's just that, BS intended to scare the average person into spending way too much..
