40 hours @ low quality. More like 12 hours decent quality.

The service is a killer though.

I was at our local CC this weekend. They had 4 or 5 open box Tivo 2's. Is there something wrong with Tivo 2's?

I thought that the Tivo could be used as a VCR type device w/o a sub. W/O the sub u dont get the fancy tv gude they provide. My wife would love to get a Tivo, but if you have to have the sub then it's not worth it. I have also never owned a Tivo.

If you order an actual TIVO made unit you do not get the free basic subscription, you need to buy the subscription plan. If you buy the Toshiba TIVO system you get TIVO basic free of charge, which works like a VCR but you do not get the fancy tv guide and/or the season pass feature but you can upgrade to the TIVO premium subcription plan later if you wish.

This is the Toshiba one I am talking about... I have this and I love it.
