American Express Women’s Golf Week Overview
Now in its second year, American Express Women’s Golf Week is a precedent-setting collaboration of the top U.S. golf organizations aimed at increasing the participation of women in golf. Scheduled to be held at more than 1,000 golf facilities across the U.S. from Saturday, June 3 through Saturday, June 10, 2006, American Express Women’s Golf Week 2006 will offer women 14 years of age and older free golf lessons and golf-related networking and social activities customized by each host facility.

In addition to complimentary golf instruction from PGA and LPGA Professionals, participating host facilities may offer activities such as networking receptions, golf rules and etiquette seminars, club fitting, equipment demonstrations, golf apparel fashion shows, luncheons and contests. Complimentary use of golf clubs will be available at all locations. While golf instruction will be offered free of charge at all locations, other activities such as dining and on-course playing opportunities will be offered for a nominal fee.

Fund-raising at all host facilities will benefit the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement, a nationwide campaign to make women aware of their risk for heart disease, the No. 1 cause of death and take action to reduce that risk. Go Red For Women provides women with tips and information on healthy eating, exercise and risk factor reduction, such as smoking cessation, weight maintenance, blood pressure control and blood cholesterol management. All funds raised go to support the women-specific and women-related initiatives of the American Heart Association, including awareness, research, education and community programs for heart disease among women.
