8.8 Earthquake in Chile

"Rattles" is hardly the word for it. I have experienced a 6.6 (Northridge Calif 1971, 5 miles from the epicenter) which was pretty violent. As my little brain understands the richter scale, each number is 10 times greater than the one before so a 7 is 10 times stronger than a 6, an 8 is 10 times stronger than a 7. 8.8 = difficult to imagine. I think it was a 9.9 on the Moment Scale. Thank the gods it was Chile and not Haiti. At least Chile has a real government structure that shows some concern for it's population and building standards.
 
man I hate to see these things.
I thought I was going to Haiti, but the deal fell through with my business. I didn't know whether to be relieved or disappointed.
How long until Hugo Chavez announces that the Americans have used their 'earthquake weapon' again?
 
We have a tidal wave warning for Calif due to come in at 1:26pm today.

I knew those coordinates wouldn't be for Uranus (that already has a large crack in it).....but those coordinates would most definiately affect a lot of asses.....:wink:.....and definiately get rid of a lot of carp.
