I rarely watch TV (tuned into Superbowl half time last) but I do have a digital TV I use to watch DVDs from my DVD player (no cable or satellite). That being said, will the digital TV signal require an antenna? When I watched the Superbowl bit the reception left something to be desired since I don't have an antenna. Is the digital TV signal stronger than the analog?

Jerry, you'll need an antenna for good reception. I can't characterize the signal as 'weaker' or 'stronger', it's different. The digital transmission will be using a part of the spectrum which has better transmission distance characteristics, but worse backscatter characteristics. In other words, the signal bounces off of buildings and causes 'ghosting' on your screen. Get yourself an indoor digital antenna of a backplane design (to cancel the ghosting). That should do all you need and more.

Almost, but not quite...

For true DTV, you'll need a heinwhe.

Is that a wet heinwhe or a dry heinwhe?

Ok - I'll put this in the "I got way too much other important things on my mind" list.

That is the only reason I can think of that it took three (3) days for this comeback.

p.s. We are dealing with electricity here, so it would be the dry heinwhe.

Why are people so afraid to mix water and electricity? That's when it really gets fun!

As long as you aren't grounded it shouldn't matter but with an antenna electricity shouldn't factor. Besides that, why does it matter if the heinwhe is wet or dry? 3 lbs is 3 lbs.

Yeah, well I never broke a bone with electricity.

Thank you...thank you very much...

It never gets old.

And a tip-o-the-hat to DanC. :yo:
