If you order it straight from Apple, it comes out higher because they charge sales tax.
To save $30 and get it before its on the market to everyone else, create a username and password for the apple IPOD. Put it in your shopping basket and don't submit the order. I did that and 8 days later apple sent me a redemption code for $30 off a $300 order. I added $9.95 earphones so it saved me $20

(Feel free to move this if I didn't put it in the right spot)

OK, that almost makes sense. Let me get it straight
1) Create a User ID and Password for apple.com
2) Add the iPod to your shopping cart
3) Let it sit there and dont checkout or purchase the product
4) Wait untill Apple emails you a promo code taking $30 off

Is that right?

As goofy as it sounds, yes.
I started the process to order one for my daughter. when I saw they charged sales tax, I did not complete the order.
I waited until today when I got the message from apple:

If you do a pricegrabber search, they are higher because of tax so it basically negates it and since noone else has them even though the pricegrabber site says they do, when you go to a site of whoever says they do it comes back saying "in stock soon" or something to the like so...
If you want to get one now, to me it seemed like a better deal.
Hopefully not as confusing now?

...so THAT's why they sent it to me! AHHHH. good find. Should this go in Hot Deals thread?

This easy little "trick" works on lots of other sites including the vistaprint.com site. I have found that if you order something but don't complete it....they send you an email with some sort of teaser or discount to get you to complete it....So this is not at all exclusive to Apple....
Just depends if you have the time to await that email or if you have to have it right then and there!
