ABIT IP35-E Intel Motherboard for $59.99 Shipped After Rebate

$60 shipped? I think not, $60 + $6.61 shipping!

This deal started last night, and while a great price, I've decided to risk waiting for free shipping (don't really need it, but for $60 shipped, I would jump).

This is the infamous double boot board.....it starts to post then
shuts off and immediately restarts.....other than that it's a great
board and overclocks well. The only problem with the double boot
is it puts more stress on the hard drives thereby leading to shortened
life.

There is an update for the BIOS that stops the double boot but
only if you don't interrupt power to the board as in unplugging it
or turning off the power strip/UPS power supply.

How this problem made it through their testing and quality control
is anybody's guess......clearly their QA is not doing it's job.

Is this only for a cold boot, or warm boot too? The reason I ask is that I so rarely ever turn off my PC. I will do a warm reboot from time to time, to clean things up. So a double boot isn't all that big a deal for the few times I'd do a cold boot.

I also didn't understand your comments about:

"update for the BIOS that stops the double boot but

Uhh..., yeah, I would imagine if you turned off the power during a boot, you'd have to... reboot. What am I missing?

He means that after the update the computer won't double boot unless it's completely disconnected from power, i.e. if you turned off the power strip it's connected to, or there's a blackout.
