Acer 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor for $189.99 Shipped

Just picked one up

Went to Best Buy this morning and got one.
It's actually very nice, but I gotta say the speakers on it kinda blow.
Other than that it's pretty sweet.
;)
 
Actually, that's a very crappy resolution for a 20" monitor, let alone 22" widescreen. My 15.4" laptop has the same resolution...
 
how do you compare a laptop monitor to a desktop? come on now. 1600x1200 is the norm for a non widescreen 20" flat panel. That resolution listed is common to a 20" widescreen. Maybe some people like the slightly bigger text on a 22" monitor?

This is a fairly poor assessment. Merely because a monitor has the capacity of a very high resolution does not mean that it is desirable. In the case of 20-24 inch widescreen monitors, I prefer 1680x1050 because the text at 1900x1200 is just too small. Moreover, videocards still have a difficult time driving such high resolutions in newer games, making 1900x1200 less useful. Dont dismiss this monitor simply because it's max res is 1680 - that's more than crisp.
 
A matter of opinion

I got two of these a few months back for my sons, one of whom is legally blind. These are amazing displays that allow him to blow up the fonts to a size that he comfortably views witout glasses. I say try before you buy. I am so glad that I did!

They do an admirable job with the graphics for the gaming that they do as well, especially World of Warcraft. The wow factor whan theis friends come over is unbelievable. One of the best purchase I have made in ages.
 
my 15" laptop has the same resolution and while it can be nice, I find myself cursing it every day. It seems that operating systems and most programs simply do not scale to higher dpi settings.
