Hey everyone,

I ran across this site tonight while looking up gas prices in my area. According to the site if you use 2 - 3oz of Acetone per 10 Gals of gas you can see an increase of up to 35% in your gas mileage. I have been reading various threads of people that are trying it and the majority are saying it's working for them. The science behind it seems good in theory. I'm considering trying it in my explorer that only gets about 16.5 Mpg now.

A few other forums where ppl are talking about it:

How is it in the long run? Won't it ruin your engine?

This looks promising. I think I may try it!

Hmm, is this like nail polish remover? Really interesting, I'd be nervous that it would ruin something. I drive a 1992 Mitsubishi Diamante, mileage isn't too great, ride is. ;)

EPA rating is 18/25, and of course I probably don't get near that.

Yup, so i guess that folks better watch their manicured nails while they're pouring this stuff in their tanks.

Considering acetone is nail polish remover, I would think that by using this, you would be cleaning out your gas tank and/or your engine itself like your fuel injectors, which would give you an increase in gas mileage.

It does sound promising in theory, I would like to know how your mpg does with the acetone. I also get about 16-17 mpg in my '99 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
