I am still a newbie when it comes to hurricanes here in Florida. This is my 3rd season and I have only been thru Hurricane Wilma who hit where I was as a category 1. I cant say that I am scared of storms, but my nerves are a bit heightened during the season; especially now that I have those two little angels over there to the left <---------
So, as Hanna, Ike and now Josephine make their way - I would like to share some humor to lighten the mood.....God Bless & Be Safe!

You love those red Xs huh? :p

You could always move back home.;)

Be safe, hun!!

KMA, check your "storm supplies!" Medications, water for three days, batteries, formula and diapers, quick foods, powdered milk, candles, spare money, put all of your papers and banking in a safe box/folder for quick get away, gas up the car, secure your windows, and check your home owner policy and flood insurance for your coverage. Just a few tips from someone who weathers out the storms here on the Island. Oh...Jeb just reminded me....check your pet foods and treats! Almost lost my house to Hurricane Isabelle in 2003, I know how you feel. Be safe and be well. Rags and Jeb :hug:

Oh Rags....when I said "heightened" I meant in the most extreme way! LOL
I packed all the above plus changes of clothes for all of us, including jeans and socks & shoes. I figure that if there was a tornado (we were on a watch for days with TS Fay), things would be strewn about and dangerous to walk around in shorts and flip flops. And I definitely packed plenty of bottles, water, formula, diapers and wipes. My reasoning being here in the sticks if the one store we have was wiped out and we were unable to travel to the big city my baby would not be very understanding.
So I set all this stuff by the door, my husband asked "Are we moving?" LOL

Can anyone see the pictures? Butty says she cant.....but I can.......I wouldnt want anyone to miss out on these fabulous pics I have posted.....let me know......

I see no pictures in this thread.

Okay...point me in the direction of the pictures!! Do they have babies in them?!?!? :)

My wife and I lived in Florida (Tampa/St Pete area) for 10 years with two native Floridians (our children). Just don't live at sea level and/or be well inland. I didn't mind the hurricanes it was the almost 365 days of humidity and daily hot rain that I hated.

We used to live in Ft Myers area and I understand what you mean about the heat. We are in the panhandle now, and there is a little bit of season change - but still no snow!
Born and raised in Ohio ( Blizzard of '78) and then in upstate NY for a bit - I hate ice and that cold wind that blows right thru you and then that bone chilling rain in the spring....

First day in FTM, as I poured with sweat unpacking boxes in the garage I said to myself, "this is so much better than snow"

It did take getting used to having Christmas in shorts though....that is still a little strange....

And I am quitting on the other pics - - - if you want to see them, stop by!

I was looking for Real Estate in Panama City once upon a time. I love the panhandle beaches - most beautiful sand I have ever seen. I even framed the sunset picture I took there.

Yes, the beaches here are great. We can go to the beach and practically have it to ourselves....it is heaven!

KMA dont worry too much about Hanna I think Ike is what we have to be worried about. I have been here since 1991. Not very scary to me anymore the only thing that Im scared of now is flooding definately this year. Josephone they dont think os going to develop into much but watch that will be our big one. When they say evacuate then well that is when I will start to worry. Hurricane ike is already a cat 4.....make sure your loaded up and dont wait til a few days before just have it stocked in a pnatry bc that is the hardest thing is going to the store after the storm switches path over night. Being prepared is the best thing to do!!

Im in Winter park *near orlando we never see that much of hurricanes Charley was the first big one that I have seen since I moved here....
This is my fave website this time of year.... http://www.wftv.com/hurricanes/index.html
