Air France Jet Vanishes off Brazilian Coast

Apparently flight had electrical problems before losing contact.
It doesn't sound too bad, but hearing that Air France is calling it a catastrophe makes me worried.

It supposedly was an 11 hour flight......
Flight AF 447, took off shortly after 7 p.m. Sunday local time (6 p.m. Sunday ET). It was carrying 126 men, 82 women, seven children and a baby, in addition to the crew, Air France said.

They didn't make it to the other end and there has been no communication.........I'm thinking it does sound 'bad'....probably 'catastophic'.....:(

The "fun fact" that I learned listening to this story this morning was that there are "large chunks of the Atlantic" that have no radar coverage for air traffic........ That is one of the factors that is making it hard for them to narrow down a search area.

I foolishly always assumed that there was radar coverage, well everywhere.

If this turns out to be a terrorist event, the 'host' country needs to be liberally sprayed with pig blood and then vaporized.

Excuse me if this offends, but I'm offended when thugs and hoodlums are coddled and treated like 'civilized' people.

It is getting weird.....but I hate it when statements are made pre-maturely. We understand it takes time to scope the ocean for a crashed plane - when you find something concrete, let us know!

But that is how the media networks get their ratings huh?

On a side note, I googled to find out how long it took to find John Kennedy's plane......he crashed July 15 and the plane was not spotted by the 'robot' until July 21. Now the water there is certainly not as deep nor as large.....and it was a estimated to have happened in a smaller area with less currents....:noidea:...they might never find this. :nonod:

But....on the side, side note.....John Kennedy crashed July 15 of 1999.....we are approaching the 10 year anniversary....it just doesn't seem that long ago.

That was my initial thought. I'm not that worried. But I really hope the passengers and the pilot and whoever else is on board is okay.

If by 'OK' you mean dead, then yes, they're OK

2 bodies, ticket found near Air France crash site

The bodies of two male passengers were recovered Saturday morning about 70 kilometers (45 miles) south of where Air France Flight 447 emitted its last signals — roughly 400 miles (640 kilometers) northeast of the Fernando de Noronha islands off Brazil's northern coast.

Brazilian air force spokesman Col. Jorge Amaral said an Air France ticket was found inside a leather briefcase.

"It was confirmed with Air France that the ticket number corresponds to a passenger on the flight," he said.

Admiral Edison Lawrence said the bodies were being transported to the Fernando de Noronha islands for identification. A backpack with a laptop and a vaccination card also was recovered.
