If you have an Amazon.com Visa Card, Chase is offering a free upgrade for 90 days.

There seems to be no catch.

For 90 days, you get double points, meaning
- 6 pts on Amazon.com purchases
- 4 pts on Gas/Dining/Drugstore/Office Supplies
- 2 pts on everything else

- Call 1-888-247-4080 to get started, enter account #, press 0
- Link to Offer Details
- limit of 60,000 pts
- Your account needs to have at least $5000 limit

This really doesn't sound like much of a deal. You have to spend money to get points toward future purchases? Amazon.com is the only winner here.

its double the value, and few credit cards (if any) give you rewards up front, you spend and then you get rewards/cash back later. but if you are gonna drop your SSN into a credit card, id go for the citi cash money CC. 3% for the first 3 months on EVERYTHING + 20% annual bonus first year.

Called the number, no offer is being offered. Do you need a special handshake or code or something? Ugh!

I think its only for current amazon.com visa card holders only from CHASE.

I called and they easily upgraded my account.

You keep your same card #, but they will send you a new card w/ new graphic. Good if you make a lot of purchases from amazon.com anyways.

Called back and got someone with a clue this time. He informed me that they can't upgrade me unless I have an account with a $5,000 limit. I don't want a limit that high, tooooooooooo dangerous! Oh well :(

I currently have an amazon card with a limit higher than $5000, and the customer service representative I got ahold of had to put me on hold to check (she said it may be a new offer she wasn't aware of), then came back & said she wasn't able to find anything about the promotion. She asked where I found the ad, and I said "a third-party deal website that posts good deals" and she got rather confused. Oh well, guess I didn't get so lucky.

She offered to transfer me to the applications dept thinking it was a new cardmember offer, but I just said no thanks. Anyone else have better luck with this? "carasage" above mentioned that they got upgraded easily... anyone else?

I just did it now.

The guy knew exactly what I was talking about and told me my new card is on the way.. Phone call lasted 3 minutes max.

I just called since I do lotta shopping on amazon anyways, rep knew right away what the deal was and didn't even mention 5K limit, in which case my is half of that, so it's all good I guess:teeth:

I can't do it. They offered me a 2.99% interest rate until it's paid off and I jumped on the deal. It's been about three years. They assumed I would continue to use the card and because payments go for lowest interest rate first my weighted-average interest rate would climb. Nope. I cut it up. My wife did that with a Washington Mutual deal for 1.99% almost four years ago. We get offers every week for cash advances at higher rates and with no cap on the cash advance fee so they can get out from under the really low interest rate deal we locked in. Stupid credit card companies. Bwahahaha!

Just called, and just a reminder, takes 3 business days to be in effect.
