Our employer has instituted an 'Employee Wellness Program' but if the employee participates to avoid a 10% penalty on their health insurance premium, the employer is forcing the spouse to participate even though they do not work for the employer.

The whole plan doesn't sound kosher and I was wondering if anyone out there had heard of anything similar or if I am just going to have to deal with it... :ack:

where i work we have to fill out a "Health Assessment Questioner" once a year.
and if your spouse is on your insurance, they have to fill it out also.

if we do not, they charge us $10 each per week.

we were told it helps save money on the insurance.

we have had to do this for a few years now. and some people have said it helped find medical problems earlier.

I think if the spouse is on the insurance, the employer can require participation.
It's not right, but I don't know if there is any recourse.
If a spouse, or an employee were 'disabled' and unable to participate, I think you might have a legal case, discriminating against the 'disabled'.
I put that word in quotes because it's a legal description, not a common sense one.

Well, that was what I figured but really didn't want to hear. I just don't like the idea of some forced third-party having my and my wife's health information. It's just another place for someone to hack.

Trust me.

If a hacker looked over your info, they would run.
