Just pre-ordered mine. It's going to be amazing!

I've already estimated about a tenfold increase in the amount of reading I will do in the coming months.

Sounds fun, but I'm old fashioned and prefer the old fashioned books. Have fun with it though! It does sound convenient.

I was amazed at how thin this is, at least in the picture.

Once I can read magazines in color on Kindle 3, I will buy :)

Ordered one of the "old ones" at Xmas time to ship in 11 or so weeks. Got an e-mail the other day saying they were going to ship soon and were "upgrading" me to the Kindle 2. My brother-in-law thinks I'm nuts buying an e-book when I could buy a laptop for the same or even less money. I already have a laptop and I've already tried reading a book with it as well as my Palm. Laptop is too big and heavy and the palm is too small. I'm pretty excited (in spite of still thinking it's too expensive). The Kindle 2 will also "read" to you - hopefully it's not in that jerky computer voice and is more natural.

I was surprised to see they already had a second version come out.....I remember Jerry was getting his wife one for Christmas - that is cool that they are upgrading you Jerry - at no additional cost to you right?

to you right?

Yeah, otherwise it stinks

ummmmmm...no...

Now... if there was something that could read a book out loud while simultaneously emitting a signal that keeps my children playing joyfully & independently so I can actually follow a plot line while I scrub floors, let me know. *that* I'll sign up for!

Definitely at no additional cost. I think the original one has been out for at least a year. I was surprised they hadn't come out with a version 2 before. I didn't buy it last year because there weren't enough reviews on it and it's pricey. It might be fun turn down the new one and tell them that I want the one I ordered. I think it would make them squirm. As it goes, making the customer wait for months they better do something!

Saw it featured on fox...

Interesting, but...

$350?!?!?!?!!?

And you still have to buy the books for a fee!?!?!?!?!?

I could hire someone to scrub my floors & watch my children while I get to sit down and actually read a book numerous times over for that amount.

Interesting look into what the new Kindle can offer.

Thanks Jimmy. These are my favorite features.

We got ours yesterday. It's nice and beats the hell out of a hardback although pretty impossible to put in your back pocket like a paperback. The computer voice is only a little odd, it's main problem being the letter "K" so it doesn't say Kindle very well. Except for that it's pretty slick.

You can read with one hand and other hand is free - Jeff Bezos - Amazon CEO :teeth:
