I really need help.
I have someone interested in buying my car. 87 accord. Body and Int. Excellent--but timing belt snapped and bent pistons This guy wants to know what I want for it. I want to get as much as possible. Does anyone know how much I could/should start asking???>???

Well these sites give you bluebook value, but with a bad motor you would have to sell for alot less. Maybe you can use this as a starting reference point.

one note.. pistons don't bend, they crack. rods can bend and crack. if a rod snaps you've got a real prob as that piston is going somewhere, be it thru the bottom end or thru the head..

Lookup the links Choo gave for a reference point, take the price based on the car in good engine order, then get a quote or two from a import machine shop on what the motor rebuild will cost and deduct accordingly. You could also look into how much a new engine costs also, since it's a Honda and the import scene is full of aftermarket stuff..
