Anywhere to recycle Canon Ink Cartridges for coupons/etc?

I have a ton of Canon ink cartridges that I'd like to trade in for coupons (Office Depot is hit or miss, and sometimes gives me a $3 off coupon). If not, is there a free, easy way to recycle them or is the trash ok?

no one does the canon cartridges anymore, we tried it last week at office max, office depot, and staples and walmart and no one takes them. so we throw ours away.
