Apple has released the iPod mini 6gb for $249. This has lowered the retail of the regular 4gb to $199. Amazon has the Apple iPod mini 4gb mp3 players for a low price of $179. Shipping is free and no tax in most states.

1. Silver | Gold | Blue | Pink | Green
Final Price : $179

dont jump on this deal yet!

think about it... the actual NEW 4gb ipod mini has 18 hrs of battery for $200. amazon is selling the old ones (8hr battery) at the new price. you're getting jipped. pay a few bux more and get 10 hours more out of your battery. if you are a student apple store for education sells them for like $180, w/free engraving. check the part numbers: m9800LL/A, m9802LL/A, M9804LL/A, M9806LL/A are the new ones.

do you guys know that they have a 6gb apple mini ipod now? it's being sold for $249

I agree, go ahead and get the new one. The old ones should really come down more than they already have. I love mine and what makes it even cooler is that I got mine for free!

how do you use a student discount online? Or does this only apply to in-store?

Online as well. Some sites (e.g. AcacemicSuperstore.com) specifically sell items only to those with an affiliation to an academic institution (e.g. students, school administrators & teachers).

After you've placed your order, they allow you to email or fax in proof of your eligibility (e.g. a copy of your student ID) to receive a discount.

ps Frequently, your student ID is your SSN.

oh ok I just found that website and saw the educational discount thing. So would it be enough to take a picture of my student ID and email it to them? I just graduated in 2004 so im not in school anymore.. but its close :o

ummmm... dunno, it is close but i'm guessing probably not. :(

it may work if your SID still works! I can still use my SID from my old university so it may work for you if you can log into your old account!

I know you can get educational discounts at the apple store in malls. just gotta flash a student ID. Not sure how it works online though.

Go here and click on the appropriate link to find you school. Once you do you'll see this:
Who is Eligible To Purchase
The following education individuals are eligible to purchase through the Apple Store for Education individuals:

Faculty or staff member of a public or private Higher Education Institution in the United States
Student currently attending or accepted into a public or private Higher Education Institution in the United States
Qualifying purchases per academic school year (July 1 - June 30):

Agreement
I agree that I am a member of one of the defined groups above eligible to purchase and that the products being purchased direct from Apple Computer, Inc. are for my own personal, education, and/or research use.
Click on "i accept", then you'll see the Apple Store for Education Individuals. From there, place your order. Doesn't say about how to submit your student id info, though they might ask you to fax it or just ask for your SSN (they can probably tell by looking up your SSN/SID # whether you're a student or not)

ps. You can also order from The Apple Store for Education Individuals at 1-800-MY-APPLE (7:30am - 6:30pm central time monday - friday), or call them w/ questions.
