Apple Ipod Photo 30gb for $270

What a Deal! Too Good to be True! haha. well i guess it is true, so so much for my theory. I am SO happy with mine, its GREAT, and at this price, why not! Its cheaper than a regular iPod!

That is a great price. I paid full price for mine...

Before anyone gets one, you should read this:
Read me, I'm important

Myself, I dont notice this problem, but still I wish I had known about it before paid 400 smackers for this thing. Oh, and if you need a car charger, spend the extra cash and get the one from apple.. I tried a third party usb-car-adapter-charger-thing and it fried my Photo (Thank goodness for extended protection plans!)

Just a heads up so you can make the most informed decsion possible.

Hmm, interesting LiveSquid. Yeah, I don't know if my iPod photo sound quality is quite what my Dell DJ used to be, but I really enjoy the player and it was a good buy. I paid $305 for it with no sales tax a while back. These were on clearance because Apple just discontinued them.

Yeah, I tried to use a program they recommended to improve the sound quality, but they can only adjust the volume on tracks directly from CD's... meaning I could not alter the ones that I either downloaded or received on an MP3 disc from a friend. :( sorta a bummer, but at least it sounds a little better.

All this based on the information given on the link LiveSquid posted. Thanks for that!

ayy. i was looking forward to getting a 60gb ipod but after reading the link that livesquid provided im leaning towards the dell dj again. plus i can use it as a storage device for other stuff ^_^

anyone have an idea when the next gen ipod photo will come out?

The 30GB model was so cheap because its been discontinued. There are no iPod Photos any more.. Theyve all got color screens and photo capabilities now - except the minis which may get them later with the next generation.

from iLounge, 6-28-05:

"As anticipated, Apple today announced that it is merging its iPod and iPod photo lines, dropping the “photo” naming and adding color screens to all full-size (white) iPod models.

The simplified lineup features a new 20GB color screen model for $299 (the same price as the older monochrome version), a 60GB model for $399 ($50 cheaper), and an updated iPod U2 Special Edition with a color screen for $329 ($20 cheaper). The company has apparently dropped the 30GB iPod photo model, which sold for $349.

Apple also said that starting today iPods will offer “an easy to use Podcast menu, including bookmarking within a Podcast and the ability to display Podcast artwork in color” to coincide with the release of iTunes 4.9.

Unsurprisingly, all of the new full-size iPod models support the photo and album artwork features of the previous iPod photo models, allowing users to view their photo libraries on the iPod’s screen or on a TV. Apple said the new 20GB iPod holds up to 20,000 photos, compared to the 60GB version which holds up to 25,000. Both can import photos from a digital camera with the optional iPod Camera Connector."

Now, this isnt the 5G, but its a step closer. I doubt theyve fixed the audio out problem, but I hope that with the switch-over to color screens, they havent made all the full-size iPods with this flaw.
Also, now that theyve done this, theres even less chance of a 5G coming soon (imo).

Wow, thanks for clearing that up LiveSquid. =]

Now I will just wait for a while =\ and see what happens.

BTW, you can use an iPod as a portable drive, no problem. The reason people think they cant, i think, is that you cant get the music off it. But you can open it in "My Computer" and add a folder and files and theyll be right there when you plug in wherever you are.

Oh , wow, I didn't know that =X

Thanks!

No, it's not a portable media device, only a music player, photo viewer, and storage device. No video... yet,

Actually....

If youve got the Photo you cant exactly play video, but you can use a program to extract images from video. Then what you do is import all those gifs into the iPod. Then you use your scroll wheel to scroll through the pictures and it simulates the moving pictures in the window. Its not quite the same, no.. but its still kind of neat.
