I'm ambidextrous

LOL so where are you at in the brain if left handers are in the right side and righties in the left or are you outta your mind somewhere else ;) . My BFF who I have known now for 45 years is ambidextrous. OMG you'd of thought that using both hands equally well equaled being  . The teachers kept smacking her left hand with a ruler whenever they'd catch her using it as a way to force her to just use her right hand. Why it mattered beats me I thought it was so cool that she could use either hand LOL I tried and tried to learn how to do that (not when the teachers could see me tho  the hand nazi's).

Actually i have heard if you try to convert a person to switch hands to the other that they aren't used to, it can screw up something in the brain. My dad is ambidextrous only because my grandma ( his mom) tried to force him to switch hands. Now he reads and says things backwards sometimes.

That's exactly what I told my husband could happen when he saw my son writing with his left hand one day and tried to "correct" him. I said "Honey...look...they actually do have left handed seats at school nowadays. It'll be allright." My son writes with his right hand now, but I have heard it is good developmentally to let your kids use both.

Very true...trying to make an individual "rewire" the coordination/motor control leads to so many other maladies. The only time it seems to "okay" is after an amputation or spinal cord injury which affects the same. When I was going through Catholic School fifty plus years ago, the nuns would go nuts if a "leftie" manifested! They would whack the hell outta the poor kid...most ended up stuttering! Nuns still freak me out to this day.:bitter:
