Is this a good deal?

Does anybody think it's a good deal? Should I purchase it? I am new to video cards and I don't know how to judge it. I know this is a game card, but I don't play games. However I want to see my desktop and DVD movies to look better, will this card do that? Should I just purchase the 9600xt deal that was posted or this one... Will the x800 pro make better pictures on desktop and DVD than 9600xt? Thanks a lot.
 
I think that typically any card 64MB or above will work fine for your purposes. I don't know that much about video cards, something I'm shameful of since I call myself a computer nerd.

Maybe a card like the X300 would be better for your purposes? I don't think you need something that high end at all.

Ya, but they also carry a 3 yr warranty so it's like a brand new card, even have all the accessories. Oh if only I have time to play video games like 4 years ago I'll get it in a heart beat. Have been pondering for 2 days about purchasing it and decided not to.
 
if you get it just make sure you order the right one. looks like you'll need the AGP version
 
The only "gotcha" that I have come across is some of the knock-off makers which use the nvidia & ati chipsets do not support lots of screen resolutions.

Example being, my Dell 2405 Widescreen should be viewed at 1920x1200 and not many video cards that are mid to low end support that resolution.
 
Yea I ordered the AGP one. I thought if it ever goes on sale at the store, it will be atleast $150+tax+mail in rebate craps, and the card going to have the same warranty anyway... I believe this video card could run 1920 x 1200, I am going to try when I get it, never run at this resolution before on my desktop.
I think maybe this will be with my computer forever since this is the top card I could put for an AMD XP 3200+. I have wanted this card since last year when I saw a big add of it at the LA International Airport, lol. Talk about wanting something for no reason, even though I don't play game, I still want to have the power it provides. It's like some people buy a porsche or a motorcycle, and never got a chance to max out its power, but I still got it anyway. I am so stupid sometimes. I hope I could try to max out my motorcycle one day though, he he. I am too excited about this video card which I shouldn't, I should just try to figure out how to survive the wind blast on the bike when I try to make the record. lol. :o
