Back in Stock ---- Motherboard/CPU combo for $5 AR + shipping

I also hear that tigerdirect is not so good. I have bought from them several times before already and haven't gotten into any problems yet. It that a good mobo?

The "Integrated VIA C3 1.3Giga Pro Processor" runs at about 850MHZ - I read this somewhere once before when I thought about getting this.

For 5 bucks it's a steal if you have an old case, hard drive etc... lying around that you want to build a system with (try your hand at linux...or maybe you got the recent Lindows offer - I'm hoping the CPU, chipset, technology etc... is ok with these OS's).

Yeah, from what I've heard, don't expect it to compete with even a Celeron, but for $15 shipped, I couldn't pass it up just for a system to tinker with. Note that the CPU is not upgradeable though. Hopefully it's powerful enough to run DVDs and I'll make it into a home theater setup.

As far as I know it can compete with PIII 600 or Celeron 677 give or take some.If it wasn't the shipping cost, I would have got one!

i just bought one of those (next model up tho) from ebay two weeks ago for my ftp server. It does what I need it to do. Cheap, small, and slow.

It's a micro ATX board. Pretty neat if you want something tiny and general purpose.

Whats with all this bad-talk about TigerDirect ... I will admidt that they sell some crap (manufacturer issue, not retailer problems), but they also sell good stuff ... just read reviews on the product before you buy it, but as for Tiger Direct themselves I've been pretty impressed. Every time I've ordered somthing from them I get it right away (extremely fast shipping), and its always what I ordered in good condition.

The first board I bought from them i mailed back & they sent me another one. That was some time ago.

BTW, this is after a huge rebate & so tax on $55, plus shipping, plus whether you get the rebate or not.

details:

The Syntax S635MP microATX motherbord has all the features you need to develop a powerful multimedia workstation. The S635MP has an inteegrated VIA C3 Samuel2 1.3Giga Pro Processor running with a 266MHz Front Side Bus.

The S635MP has built-in an AC'97 CODEC, a CNR slot and built-in 10/100Mbps LAN connection. In addition the S635MP has an extended set of ATX I/O ports.

I'm not going to pick this one up but thanks I'm sure It will serve its purpose for someone.
I just wanted to say that I have been buying from Tigerdirect for years and have only good things to say. I would like to know what exactly is bad about them??
They always have cheap prices and good service for me?
Peace

I've heard that they ship wrong items, ship them too late so you're past your rebate timeframe, customer support is bad, won't rma items, etc.

shoddy performance.

This system has pretty poor performance. my friend has the combo and we even upgraded the system with more ram and a geforce4. It still has a hard time playing older 3d games. It also has sub-par performance around the desktop. We installed WindowsXP on the system, and realized it would have been better off if we had stuck with 98/ME.

A word to the wise, when looking for a deal, beware you often get what you pay for. A truly good deal is hard to find.

It's a good deal if you wanted cheap network storage...or a little server. Maybe a mp3 jukebox.

I just recieved it. Haven't set it up yet but it seems like a good board for a beginner. Pretty detailed manual written in clear english. No half ass translation, so that's nice. Sad that there's no AGP port...I had wanted to set this up as a dvd/mp3 player to run through my TV. Oh well. Looks like it'll be a cheap system to sell....
