Belkin F5U307-BRN 7-Port Plus Hub for $9.99 Shipped After Rebate

OMG we stopped using hubs in what- the 90's? They should pay us $10 to TAKE these things!

:boogy:

USB was just starting out in the 90s. I use a hub on a daily basis. How else can you hook up 3 webcams, 5 thumbdrives, and coffee warmer to a laptop with 2 ports?

so you need 3 webcams, 5 thumbdrives at the same time???
Many desktop now got 4, or even 6 USB at the back, 2 at the front, that's pretty enough for normal use.
Anyway, the review of this hub is pretty bad, so not really a good deal IMHO.

Yes, desktops do but as he stated he is using a laptop that does not have that many and will need to use a hub. But yes, I'll pass on this one too with the low reviews. Fry's will occasionally have them for a couple of bucks every once in a while

I thought the same thing, thus why I even clicked on this. No, it's not a 'hub' as we always used the term as in ethernet hub instead of switch. Old school hubs are so 'out of the picture' that people are starting to generalize the term for 'usb hub' nowadays as that's the only type of hub they actually know of, thus I think you're just confusing the issue.
FYI - depending on your devices, I would suggest a USB Hub that has additional uses, or more compactness. For instance a 14 port card reader if you use any type of media cards or bluetooth capabilities. It's also important to note whether you want USB 2.0 or powered (non-powered will not charge attached devices), both of which I consider requirements, non-powered or non-2.0 would be a waste of my money.

Anyhow, this is 2.0, it is powered, it does have an extension cord, but the reviews on the actual product are universally bad, so I'm giving this a thumbs down.

But, most people don't go out and buy a new desktop to get a couple extra USB ports either. If you have a laptop that only has two ports (like most seem to these days), this would be a great buy, especially if you want to use a USB keyboard and mouse, as well as a few other accessories.

unless you got a netbook, or a low quality laptop, I think most laptops have 3-4 usbs?
