Fry's is offering the Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Upgrade Kit for $14.99. (original price: $49.99) The kit includes a PCI card with two USB 2.0 ports, a 4-port USB 2.0 hub, and a USB 2.0 device cable.
USB 2.0 supports speeds up to 480 Mbs. Compare with firewire at 400 Mbs, typical ethernet at 100 Mbs, or USB 1.x at 12 Mbs.
Belkin generally makes good quality (and typically overpriced) products. The upgrade kit comes with a lifetime warranty.
The Palo Alto Fry's has an ample supply of these kits. (both on shelf and above the aisle) This price is not advertised in the paper and apparently will not expire soon.
