Includes 5 HD-DVDs by rebate. Click on Gift by Mail

I'm gonna go by some cassettes and VHS tapes while I take this deal too. Maybe a horse n buggy or a butter churner.

You're right! Makes it a very good deal. It's almost like buying 5 HD-DVDs for $50 for HD DVD player owners.

Alright, Finally I can get one of these... Now that Blueray won :( Oh well it'll still work with the PC and it's a cheap HD player for my Computer.

This sucks. I was hoping that MS would offer some sort of trade-in program for a Bluray add-on if they ever made one. This deal would suggest that other than the few movies I now have this thing is a $170 paper weight.

Do you really think Sony will license Bluray to Microsoft? I seriously doubt that will happen. ever.

For the right amount of money, sure they will. Whether it will ever happen at a price point Microsoft would want....

I think they have to, legally. They can't pick and choose who they liscense the technology to. Anyone who chooses to pay the proper licensing fees can use the technology as long as it is properly implemented according to the terms of the licensing agreement.

This is just the impression I got, however, I might be wrong.

YMMV (they hadn't changed the price when I went) but you might be able to get Circuit City to price match to Best Buy and get an additional $8 off with the 10% difference.

LOL @ people who still buy movies!!
How exactly do you get them? I mean, if you actually want something that looks and sounds pristine (HD blu-ray quality) then you can forget downloading it.

If you don't mind lower resolution, lower bitrate, lower quality viewing with zero bonus features, of course there are plenty of places you can turn to.

i know, i know, bluray won. This still isn't a bad deal if you already have an xbox 360.

You get 6 hd-dvd movies with this. one is in the box with the player and the other 5 you mail away for. You also get a remote for your xbox. The player will also up convert your regular dvd's.

you'd pay more than $50 just for the up converting player, the extra movies and remote are just a bonus.

if you know where to look....

If you know where to look, and smart enough to understand and use some of the services available on the internet, then you would know that there are tons and tons of HD-DVD or Blueray rips (25-30 GB AVI/MKV), or even iso images all over the internet...with maximum download (bandwidth) speed. You never need to buy anything digital ever again. (And no, I'm not referring to torrents)
