I apologize if this isn't the correct spot to post this, but I figured if you're like me and sign up for lots of freebies, this is the place for this warning.

There is a scam going on called "cramming" in which a dodgy company can put charges directly onto your phone bill using ONLY your phone number...no name, address or anything else is needed.

Please be careful giving out your real phone number to these freebie websites. Try using a free service for a phone number that will forward your voice mails and faxes to a chosen email addie.

It does work for cellphone numbers too! O MY GOODNESS! Just changed all my numbers in roboform! Thanks for the heads up!!

I've never entered my real phone number...except for sweepstakes entries (which is good, because I won a 4 star spa resort package to Miami, FL last year and had it as my contact!). I hope I haven't caused problems for other people by randomly putting phone numbers. oops!

I never give my real phone number I do random numbers as well-I try to add a lot of fives

Help

I use a GrandCentral that forwards all the calls to another phone, never giving out my real number. You can also use Numbr.com although the number is only temporary. -tttaa.blogspot.com

You can easily use this phone number for spam prevention>>>> 555-0123 or any 4 numbers after 555- because 555 does not exist!
For further info call me at 718-555-9483
:)

My ex-boyfriend's cell phone number works really well for me.

When one of my ex'es split with me for my best friend, I called a 1-900 tell your future number from his phone and chatted with that nice lady for well over an hour. She told me I had great change coming soon and I would be happy with the outcome, I agreed with her!

Oh that's give me a really wonderful, nasty idea...

"What's that, now? You want to work under the table so you don't have to pay child support? Ok, no problem buddy. I've got just the thing for you"

No, I'm not bitter

:eviltongue:

I love that idea- all over it thanks!!!

Grand Central and jConnect numbers are great to prevent this sort of thing.

I too don't give my real nbr. Just with HP or something like that. I don't want a bunch of calls. I also don't give my real birth date. Thanks for the warning though.
