i was just curious if any other parents are experiencing what i am. i took my kiddos out to target for our normal weekly run and walked them through the toy section to:
a. torture them
b. see what they want for christmas
so anyway, we get to the bratz and the polly pocket and fur real and doodle bear and all these other ugly toys and the girls of course want them all. so then, we get to the barbie aisle, which is mostly "my scene" now, but there were still quite a few barbies. anyway, my girls had NO INTEREST in any of them. when i was a girl, barbie was all i wanted- any and every type in every outfit imaginable. what happened to barbie's popularity? why is it that my girls want dolls with disproportionately large heads rather than disproportionate other parts :p
seriously, though, do any of you have kids who like barbie, or am i going to have to accept that discussing what i played with as a little girl is now officially a part of the "good ol' days"???

Barbie was awesome with her Pink Corvette, Condo with a side elevator, swimming pool...not to mention she was a fashion icon...I miss Barbie too...All my boys want are Rescue Heroes...They don't like Barbies:)

Plus Target stinks anyways, they are Anti-Christmas!!! No Salvation Army bell ringers allowed at Target stores and they will not be using the words Merry Christmas in their advertising for fear of offending non-Christians...

Sophinator and Charzilla literally have 50 to 60 Barbies (if not more). But they also have several Bratz and My Scene and.............

i heard that about target, wildbanchee.
my scene is like the barbie/bratz love child- they're cuter than bratz dolls, but still not quite barbie. my kids don't like them, either, though

My daughter loves Barbie dolls. My son, who is 4, likes to play with them too and we got him his own Ken doll. They have plenty though so I have not even noticed if there was a sudden shortage in Barbies.

I used to play with Barbie in the third grade. That might explain a lot. LOL

Apparently the Barbie franchise isn't quite what it used to be...

ooh i love barbies! ....whoops, did I say that out loud...*tries to back out quietly*

no biggie, guys, i'm sure hugh hefner would admit to loving barbies too LOL

I met Barbie at a club once , but i had to slip her a 20 before anything happened :(

I think that Barbie even had a Lego set, I think Lego's are old school too

haha! I remember barbies when I was little. Right now my girls are too young for them. Well Keara will play with them kinda but not really "play" the way older girls do with them. (if you know what I mean) Personally, when I was young my mom always bought them for me. I never really loved them very much. But I must admit I did love to chew on their feet. LMAO LOL It's true I swear, I have no idea why I just did.

I wonder why I hate feet sooo much now then??? I scream at my hubby all the time for putting them too close to me. I think they're gross. :p

i know what you mean, mommy.. todd likes to warm his cold feet on me... ewwwww
i didn't chew on barbie feet, though. i had a barbie townhouse with an elevator (had a string to pull it up and down) and some furniture. never had quite enough to furnish the whole thing though :p but it allowed me to rearrange furniture to my heart's content, which i still do to this day (in my house, not barbie's anymore ;))
but my sister got crystal barbie... that wasn't fair... i wanted that one sooo bad :p
ashley had a couple of barbies when she was younger, but they're long gone now. i can't believe i don't have a single one in my house! and can anyone explain the appeal of bratz to me?

i can't stand those bratz dolls. There heads are too big. What's up with that?? LOL My favorite toys when I was little were pound puppies!!!!!

well, maybe bratz are poochie's fault... remember poochie? cute lil white and pink dog with a big head... i loved my poochie.

*just realized dehawk could make a comment, so i'm asking in advance for a little restraint*

maybe he's just setting up a nice dating pool for owen's g.i. joe figurine :p

just like lincoln logs turned into legos, baby dolls turned to barbies which turned to bratz, my scene etc. It is a never ending marketing gig....it all started when they had to make barbie's relatives, skipper, kelly etc....

lol... was talking to my mom today and she told me about "growing up skipper"... you'd turn her arm (like rotate it all the way around) and her bust would grow. LOL

How about Prego Barbie - she gives birth and gets her waist line back! LOL What a joke!

She didn't get vericose veins or hemorrhoids neither! :(

i like the rescue heroes and what they promote- sam's going to be getting a lot of those over the years, i'm sure.. i totally prefer them to power rangers! besides, todd is a cop AND i have a thing for men in uniform... i might join sam in playing with the toys :p
