Now, I'm not saying there's a problem here... but I'm starting to wonder about them. I realize that the discount shipping is supposed to be 9 business days or something like that... but on two orders with them from last Sunday, they spent all week in "Sent to Warehouse" status and now they're "On Order". If they were sold out, why did my orders go through to begin with?

A third order is still in "Sent to Warehouse" status. That was only a few days ago so that's not a big deal.

These Google Checkouts are great deals - if it doesn't take me forever to get these items. And there are rebates involved with all of them, so hopefully the late deliveries aren't screwing me out of rebates that might have to be sent in soon. But I'm starting to get a bit concerned.

I just cancelled my order

I just ran into the same situation with Buy.com on a rebate item. Buy.com made sure that they took my money although they did not have the item in stock. When it finally got to close to the deadline for the rebate I just cancelled the item. How can you sell something you don't have in stock? What scares me is that Buy.com states in its policy that it can take up to 7 days to cancel an order. Something seems fishy especially since I had to research my order and no updates were sent from BUY.com. Be careful.

Interesting. Well, technically, they aren't late shipping any of the orders yet, so it would be pointless to make a stink about it yet. But I'm keeping tabs and will cancel any orders that are not on their way two weeks after ordering.

Buy.com has the policy that if the item is "Out of Stock" and you order it, you are then placed in line for the item. That way, when they get more of these items in, they will then ship it out to you. Amazon did this to me last Christmas, but I called, and they somehow found one for me and also bump up my shipping from 5-7 days to 2 day shipping.

That would be fine if the product was out of stock when I ordered it. However, that was not the case... the item was listed as "in stock". It was only a week after I ordered it that the status changed from "Sent to Warehouse" to "On Order".

I recently ordered something in no quick rush from them. When I ordered it the next day it went to 'sent to wearhouse' and it stayed like that until I received it. Yes, I did pay through Google Checkout. It took approx. 6 days to receive the product. For the $10 discount and free shipping I wouldn't complain. I've been ordering with them for a couple years now and have never had a problem with out of stock or returns. Hope this can help your minds a little

Two out of three orders: "On Order" after being in "Sent to Warehouse" status for approximately a week. Supposedly both were "In Stock" when I ordered them.

The most recent order I placed (for bluetooth headseat) has in fact shipped, I've e-mailed buy.com about the other two (for a wireless router and a gaming mouse).

Update: one of the two "On Order" orders - the router - has now shipped. And it's coming from only about 150 miles away, so it might get here pretty quick. (no delivery date yet given)

Now the other "On Order" order - the mouse - has been shipped.

So it looks like buy.com has come through.

I had an issue with the "in stock" status at time of order and having it cancelled. It's bad enough that they take your order with no inventory but it's like pulling teeth to get any response from them.
I've noticed a lot of offer posting here for the last few weeks and am wondering how current buyers are faring.

I got my buy.com order very quickly with no problems at all.

Yes, on further review buy.com has come through in all cases and I will use them again in the future. The "warning signs" were in this case premature and I very much recommend buy.com.

ordered a 100pk of verbatim DVD+R's on Dec 15. Item was "in stock", and then was sent to warehouse. Now, its "on order", nearly 10 days after ordering the item. If you don't have enough units to ship out, shouldn't they update their website to reflect that? This is the second time buy.com has failed for me, so I think its time to stop buying from them- maybe I'll come back for some stellar deals, but I should remember that if I want quality customer service, I should go to a reliable company.

if you google "bestbuy.com complaints" or "victoriassecret.com complaints" etc. you'll come up with all sorts of people who have bad experiences. I've ordered from buy.com a couple of times and haven't had bad luck. I think that especially the BIG guys aren't out there to intentionally rip the consumer off. They're there to take your money and hopefully get your business next time.

I've worn out Buy.com and the Google Checkout these last 2 months. There were a few (2) items I cancelled my order b/c it went into a backorder / out of stock status.... but I was still in line to get the product if I wanted. Since there was a rebate tied to the timing of my order, I cancelled it. No big deal. All other items have been very quick shipping and all orders have been filled correctly. There was another time that I waited for an item to come back in stock after a weeks wait and it was shipped promptly. I like Buy.com and don't have any complaints at all. :)

In my case they didn't take my money and will not get any future business. I realize there's a lot of bad press on all vendors out there but with this one I have personal disappointment. I'm interested in your experience with them.

I ordered the 100 pk of Verbatim DVD -R's 16X on Dec 25th from Buy.com they were $23 after Goggle checkout plus shipping. Order came to just over $29. They were delivered on Dec 28th USPS. During the month of Dec I ordered 10 different items and orders with them because of the goggle checkout savings. Everything came within 3 or 4 days from the order date.

I go with amazon.com when I can, they have the same $25/free shipping mark, and though their prices are *slightly* higher, their customer service is amazing. When Microsoft/YA tried to screw me on a rebate over OneNote, Amazon.com gave me a full refund and didn't even want the software back. Their CSRs are always friendly and speak english (hooray!!!).

Although, I did order some stuff from buy.com last week and while it showed 'shipped' a couple days after ordering it (w/free shipping), the USPS tracking said 'electronic info received, waiting for shipment' right up until it came in the mail yesterday.

...Of course my karatedepot.com order said 'electronic info received' on the usps tracking page until it came in the mail yesterday too...

hmm...

The way buy.com and amazon.com and most others work is they have an expected shipment of items and based on that they say that items are available. now if the supplier/manufacturer goofs up, the items go on backorder. Amazon does send you email stating that your item is on backorder and you are not charged till its shipped. I have mixed bag of feelings for buy.com. if the item gets delayed beyond a few days, i'd suggest cancelling it unless you can wait longer. you'll find the same thing with most retailers since they want to keep their inventories as low as possible and hence they start selling an item even before it reaches them.
