Have any of you ever bought medicine online? I know the dangers of buying online, but someone told me that there are legitimate online pharmacies out there--like cvs.com. I take several things- birth control, thyroid medicine, and heart medicine. The cost of medicine is ridiculous!

Do any of you use them? If so, what are the savings compared to drop off/pick up pharmacies or hospital pharmacies?

I dont know about them, but I know that my ex used to get a lot of her BC pills from her 'woman doctor' ;). She would get probably six packs of 'samples' from her each annual visit and then only had to buy another six months worth.

If youre concerned with the price, and not the convenience of not having to go to the pharmacy, it might be worth asking your ObGyn about.

My health insurance prescription plan would charge me $60/90 doses of brand name Synthroid. I use canadadrugsonline.com and get the same Synthroid (manufactured by Abbot Labs) for $19/100 doses. They charge $10/order for shipping, so if you can combine orders -- multiple prescriptions or even you and your spouse order at the same time -- you can save substantially on shipping, too.

Buy Canadian! Less than half the price of the US!

And you dont even need a prescription at canadrugsonline. I went through the checkout process with Soma in my cart.. At least they dont have Vicodin, Xanax, Valium, etc..

Soma might be OTC in Canada....and since there really is no way to determine where the med is coming from, I wouldn't take it.
So many of these labs have branches all over the world, so even though it "comes from [insert reputable laboratory here]" you have no clue what you're taking.

If you're worried about the cost of prescription drugs, talk to your doctor. They get ridiculous amounts of free samples directly from the manufacturer, I'm sure he/she would be happy to help you. When I cleaned out my dad's office after closing his practice I came home with literally tens of thousands of dollars worth of meds that he had to give patients.
Another thing to look into is generic prescriptions at Walmart. I hate Walmart, but at least they have a great selection of meds available for only $4...and the meds are going to be safe.

Believe me, I know how expensive meds are. But I also know the the research that goes into these meds is extensive. In one summer I spent close to $1.3 million on research while I was an unpaid intern. Its not just the research thats expensive, its the manufacturing process thats expensive (think of the QA/QC process!) If you cut that out, and start cutting corners, making mistakes...what do you think would happen?
The FDA regulates these things so heavily for a darn good reason. Trust them.

Why don't you just shop at Walmart? $3 ($4?) RX hundreds of drugs.

Canada is funny. About $6.50 for 50 pills. $6.50 for 200 pills.... lol

We ran a study a couple of years ago, randomly pulling prescription drugs here in the States, from Mexico, and, Canada. Yes, many drug companies were suppose to have standarized values. What we found was a range of 13%to 57% deviation in standarization of strengths and purity!

Great suggestion to ask for samples. Shucks the Reps come in and toss bags of stuff in the Doctor's Offices! Also, contact the Drug Companies directly. Many will at least offer coupons, a free week's trial, or, if your income is stretched, will offer discounted rates. Call your local pharmacies and ask them what they charge to fill a script! Talk about mark up, you can save by picking a Pharmacy that is competitive in pricing.

Professionally speaking......stick to FDA approved drugs here in the States. Your health is worth the extra money.
