can someone explain how to pop off the io shield from an atx case?

I just bought this from a previous deal

http://www.frys.com/product/4997441

1. Frys Price : $40.00

and i look up online to figure out how to remove the io sheilding and everything I read says that you just need to give the corners a whack with the back of a screwdriver or something...I've been trying that, and I see a little small dent , but still no luck....I've been trying to give it a beating, but the way they put the shielding in, it's giving me problems...

any tips?

Most of them take a good whack with a screwdriver, like you've tried. The only other ones I've had to deal with have two screws on the inside or outside of the shield that had to be removed before it would come off. Good luck. You may want to give the guys at Fry's a call.

Show us your shield! If you can, take a picture of the back of your case, and the inside rear of the case so maybe we can see what needs to be done..

hey thanks...after a few whacks with a mallet and chizel...I finally got it off...I don't know why we need these shields...it would be a lot better if they just sold the atx case with the io portion carved without this covering....

yeah they are pretty annoying seeing as how they never fit the motherboard anyways.
