Can the same printer connect to two PCs using USB & Parallel port???

is it possible to hook up the same physical printer directly to two different PCs.

one through USB, another through parallel port?

two questions:
1. if only one PC is going to be powered on at one time i think it will probably work???

2. will the same work if both PCs are powered on at the same time??

Since you use two PC, I assume you have an internet connection through a router right? If you do, just setup a small network, that way you can share files too.

To answer your question, I am not sure if you can do that but you can try it.

First, we don't know what computer this is or what printer, so do as above, try it.

Some printers are not networkable.

Yes true but, if you hook the printer to a networked computer and share the printer, it should work

printer doesn't seems to be network printer, since it doesn't prints through either the router print server or the tcp/ip port. garbage prints out every time.

printer brand is panasonic, model # is not there, faded.

that's why i am trying to do this solution, since both Pcs are nearby.
regarding the printer sharing, won't the PC directly connected need to be always on in order to send jobs from the other PC to the printer?

one Pc is win98 another is win XP.

It depends on the printer. If one of the connections is connected to the PC the printer might ignore the other port. Try it, the worst that can happen is that it won't work.

Yes, The pc directecly connected to the printer need to be on when you are trying to print from another PC. Never tried win98 and win XP though..

its not going to blow up if it doesnt work. the only thing that may cause a problem is if you try to print from both computers at the same time?

its the same user, so yeah printing will 99% be only from one at a time.

i am going to try anyways, but just wanted to know if anyone has done it already and could provide some suggestions.

Boom!!

I think the closest thing you're gonna get to blowing up is the mystical green smoke that electronics emit. I'll admit that i've seen it more than once, and I don't think it's ever been a 'fun' experience (normally cuz its hours of work or lots of money going up in smoke)
