My wifes family is coming to visit soon, and we need to rent a van for 2 weeks. I am all over the net trying to find the best deal, but am having very little luck actually finding a good price.

Besides expedia, orbitz, etc. Does anyone know of any websites that offer good discounts on rental, and anywhere that I can find some coupons?

The lowest I have found so far is $700 for the 2 weeks. There has got to be something better than that out there!

Thanks in advance :)

last time i needed a rental, i went to www.priceline.com ... the whole transaction was smooth, and i got the car for $14/day for a compact car (step up from economy), and around here those go for 22.99/day... you might try it out. oh, and ignore when it tells you that your asking price has a "small" chance of being accepted- that's the message i always get on there... as long as you're not being ridiculously greedy, it ought to work... for example, if $700 is the best price, then $500 may be a reasonable offer. good luck and have fun with the inlaws LOL LOL

Thanks for the reply clubchick. I will check out priceline. I tried hotwire but came up with nothing good.

Thanks again! :)

Go to www.biddingfortravel.com to get some info on how much to bid on priceline. The rental car info varies by city. Always have a backup reservation. Unfortunately for you, van and mini-van don't come cheap.

If you live in that city and if you pick from the airport, most rental companies will waive the airport/concession fee, only if you ask. If you haven't done so, check the prices on neighborhood locations, which can vary from airport pricing. ALWAYS compare AFTER tax-fees prices, not the daily/weekly rate only because taxes and fees can make huge difference.

Just found out, check this Cedar's posting:
