I saw the Zappos post and thought about my birkenstocks... I bought my first pair at an outlet mall in the bay area for like $90. I see them for $120 regularly now (taupe arizona style). I've been buying replacements ever since from Jestel KG in Germany (http://www.birkenstock.cn) ever since. I just checked their site and these are priced at 49.95 Euros (about $62 US). They offer free economy shipping (takes about a month). I usually buy 2 pairs at a time and re-buy when I open the second box. They take major credit cards and I've never ever had a problem with them (other than the "free" shipping taking 30-60 days -- but they always show up).

I'm a regular birkenstock wearer and I used to buy mine at the Birkenstock Outlet in Gilroy, CA and during holiday sales, they have a bin full of birkis for $20.00 each! Since I live 5 hrs away from Gilroy, I make do with getting mine from an eBay seller (henning1991) and though you can get really great deals, he doesn't carry the newer styles.
