Today I went to get pizza for lunch and noticed two very young childern left alone in a car. I stood outside the car for 5 mintues waiting for someone to come. Finally I went looking the adult, seeing how there was no other customer in the pizzera, I went next door to the sub shop and asked if anyone had left two children in a car and that one was crying. A lady said that "they are mine and that the oldest one can take care of the baby". The oldest child had to be younger than 4. I told the lady that it is illegal to leave children a car. I called the police but she left before they got there. the police told me that they couldn't do anything because they didn't witness it. Bravo to all the parents that know better.
Oh, by the way it is very very cold outside today.

Yet these are the same morons that meet me in the ER screaming and crying when their kids either "fry to death" in a car, or freeze to death. Not to mention, how many times on the NEWS do we see innocent babies/children hijacked by yet another scourge to society when parents leave them in the car to go pay for something?!?! I have not patience with people who lack the common sense to raise children. It really is not that hard....do unto them that which you would do for yourself!! Makes me wonder....

some people are so ignorant. its scary to think people like that are allowed to raise children. the sad thing is those kids will grow up and be the same way because they werent shown any different

You can always tell the police that you are willing to sign the complaint. That way they can't just write it off and say, "Well, we didn't see it." Too bad you didn't get a license plate number of the car.

I did get the license plate number, but I didn't know I could file a complaint. I'll go down to the police station and file a complaint.

This really angers me. People like this dont really care if their kids get hot/cold or kidnapped.
Good for you rcdldl for getting the plate number and filing a complaint!!!! :claps:

That's one of the questions I'll ask someone if they report an erratic and/or drunk driver. If they are willing to sign a complaint, all the deputy/officer/trooper has to do is pull the individual over and write up the citation. Then the reporting party signs it as the complainant!

The best thing to do in a situation like that, that won't result in you attacking the neglectful parent and winding up in jail, is to immediately call the police or fire dept and report it, or flag down an officer if you happen to see one.

Not too sure of the law, but I think they should arrest those kind of neglectful parents for child neglect. If the weather is very hot or very cold they should be able to get them for child neglect, child abuse and wanton endangerment.

I write the licence plate number down and call the police! I'm not sure if there is a law about animals too. It makes me feel so sad that so many people don't have the brains to think that anything could happen,I won't even let my 11 year old stay in the car by her self! There are to many wierdos out there!

I am so proud of you for doing the right thing. There should be more citizens like you that help keep our children safe. :)

In Calif, they made a new law that states you can't leave your canine in your car for more than three hours.

I think it is illegal here to leave your pet in the car during the summer without a window cracked, you can get arrested to "animal abuse."

I've seen it too, parent's leaving their kids in the car alone. It fusterates me, I know as a parent how hard to is to have to get all the kids (especially the younger ones) out at every stop...but it's a part of being a parent and a responsibly you sign up for as soon as your child enters the world. But, that's why they make WONDERFUL fast-food drive-thrus :bigok: (what would we do without them!!!)

This is so annoying to me, also. It only takes a few seconds to undo the kids and take them with you. Plus, it is much safer for everyone.

My husband told me tonight that yesterday when he went into the grocery store that there was a little kid (about 3 or 4) in a car, all alone, still strapped into his car seat!!!!!!
He was going to go further with it, but the lady came back as he was walking in. Still - who knows how long she was in there!

This is what the world has come to. It takes nothing to bring children into the world. People do it every day. Then expect the state to feed and clothe them and their growing brood. The more children, the bigger the checks and more food stamps.
But it takes a whole lot of love, understanding and caring to be a Mommy or Daddy. I sure hope the states that have passed laws regarding pets being left in cars have the good sense to enforce stricter penalties for children being left unattended(in cars, alone in apts, houses, etc.).

i just noticed you spelt children in the tittle wrong you said childern
but either way, that messed up. what could happen, especially if they were in the ghetto. i don't see that around here or sometimes i just don't notice.
