It's open again!!!

I just finished this study, an online workbook really, and I loved it! It really helped put certain things into perspective, and help me look differently at pain.

They pay very quickly, I got my first $35 dollar check right away, then they pay you $50 for the next portion, then another $50 at the end.:claps:

I don't have the original invitation, but my interviewer told me I could just give people her info.

This study is being conducted by Talaria, Inc., a small research and development company that creates health care training. We are developing this interactive software tutorial to provide infomation and support for patients with non-cancer pain. This project is funded by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the National Institute of Arthritis, Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Participating in the study involves consenting to participate, filling out questionnaires, and viewing the tutorial online. The whole study takes about 6-7 weeks to complete. Your login ID and password will allow you to log in as often as you like, finishing as much or as little of the tutorial as your time allows. You will receive up to $135 for your participation.

how long is the survey for is it over the phone?

Well the first telephone interview was about 40 minutes, but you may be picked to do an online one.

One of the preliminary questionnaires took me about 20 minutes or so.

Then the workbook, you need to dedicate at least 4 hours a week to that, approximately, but I did it in less.

I found the link! http://backpainstudy.talariainc.com/(S(kbcrzde4g0n0iv55t5vvow55))/Default.aspx

This has all the needed information!

I just completed this yesterday. I was chosen for the online workbook and only had to do a closing interview by phone at the end that took about 10 min. You receive $135 total, in three payments. First being $35, second $50and last $50. I have had chronic back pain for years and this workbook was very helpful and one of the best most helpful surveys I have ever done.

Hmm... I'm gonna have to remember to do this tomorrow -- I've had back pain for a few years now & had back surgery a little over 4 months ago. I wonder if I qualify? Thanks for the link KS! I could SURE use the money right now.

:) I just realized she's in Seattle so I tried calling -- got a cell phone voicemail & left my info. Hope I can get in on this!!

I have been through some horrible treatments for my arthritis. I don't have the energy left to do the study. :(

You can do as little or as much of the workbook as you like, as long as you do the short questionnaires and phone interviews, you will probably qualify and get paid. I didn't even finish the workbook, and she sent me the link to do the last questionnaire, which took about 30 minutes, and I got up and did other things to stretch, so I wouldn't get stiff.
Give it a try. It really will change your outlook, trust me.

Do you know how they base the qualifications? I'm hoping I qualify but wish I knew what they were looking for.

They are looking for people with chronic back pain, (as opposed to temporary acute pain) who haven't gone to a pain clinic specifically for pain counseling.
You can have good and bad days, you don't have to be on disability...um...can't think of anything else...

Called and left a voicemail... Hope I get in on this one.

Hmm, well I've had my issue for a couple years now (due to a car accident) and still get pain on a pretty regular basis as 4 discs in my lower back were ruptured... I've not been to a pain clinic, tho I have sought treatment & had surgery on one of the discs 4/1. Hopefully that doesn't disqualify me! I could REALLY use the money. I think I got a call back from her earlier today but no msg was left and it wasn't the same # I called yesterday. Hopefully she calls back if it was her. :) Thanks for the add'l info KS!

Whenever she has called it has always been from her number: 206-579-0485, just to let you know.
One nice thing about the workbook is that it saves your information after you hit next for each page, so you can come back to it, and do as much or as little at one time as you like!

I called and left my info. It's late on a fri now, so I don't expect a return call until mon. I have had back pain for several years. No surgery/no pain clinic. Tons of meds that don't help. I like the money , but also look forward to maybe learning something.

i left her a msg.....still nothing. Ihvae a ton of back pain @_@ plus all the meds to go w/it

:( I *think* she might have called me Wednesday or Thurs? (as stated in my prev. msg) but she never left a msg (it was a 206 area code but different #) and hasn't called back since. I guess I'll try her again Monday. I realllllly wanna get in on this.

I quit taking meds back in 2005 because for one, it's the very definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting a different result, and two, I was having so many side effects that I thought I had MS!! I noticed NO difference after I quit taking them, except immense relief that I wasn't poisoning myself anymore!
I only take narcotic type meds when I cannot stand, literally from the pain. (They are the only ones that actually stop the pain, anyway!)

You will definitely gain some insight into how you look at pain, and your outlook at how it affects you.

Also, when I talked to Jen Mundt the other day for our last phone interview, she said that they were going to recruit for another couple weeks, and that it will probably take a while for her to get back to you.

I never heard back from her. As stated before, I think I might have gotten a call from her the next day, but it was a different # (same area code) and she didn't leave a VM. Bummer. Did anyone get in on this?

I never heard back either. Actually had forgotten about this. Oh well.
