I was the not-so-proud owner of Norton 360 Freebie sometime back which slowed my computer down tremendously......the subscription expired 1/09...

I then downloaded Avast.....

But Norton kept reminding me with a pop-up that I was expired.....so I 'uninstalled' it....now I cannot connect to the internet (IE)(desk top - I'm using laptop)....:(

Apparently it changed a setting somewhere and I think it's firewall related.... please help!

Damn Norton :whip:

I'd first check the Norton support website. I'm sure it isn't uncommon.

OR

Since I'm not sure what operating system you have and I'm not familiar with Norton, I'd reinstall Norton and make sure you can connect to the internet. Then after that configure the firewall and internet connections for no protection in Norton itself. Make sure you can still access the internet and then uninstall it again.

Good luck!

I can't find the N360 disc to reinstall

Have you searched the Windows help sites?
I don't know, wish I did

Get the Norton Removal Tool onto a flash drive (from another computer, of course) and run it. It will reboot the computer a couple of times but you should be able to access the Internet after it is finished. If not, let me know. There is a hidden driver on the system that Norton puts on.

Can't you download and install it from their site?

Either way, this seems on point:

Try this.

Since I can't connect to the internet, I would have to find a flash to download here and do it there......only.........I need to find my flash... (major home renovations going on :faint: )

By the way, I've used the Norton Removal Tool on dozens of computers because of faulty Norton products. All I can say is that when a company has to create and update a removal tool, then you know their products are bad.

Norton :whip:

I found a flash and am attempting now.....thanks

Is this a free tool? It seems to identify the issues, but asks to purchase to remove them....

I just downloaded and ran it. When it was finished it took me to the Norton website to reinstall Norton products. Just what I would expect from Norton.

Spaz....I could kiss you!

I am up and running again! :woot:

:peace:

Spaz, you da man....:yesnod:

I'm just surprised that no one made a pickle joke...

I had a couple come to mind, but was for sure thinking that others would have beat me to it.

Glad to hear your computer is well again Precocious!

She spends the day in a pickle and dreams of giant zucchini.
