After basically being shafted by the eye care practioner I decided to go to, I have an open box of lenses that are too strong for me. Am I allowed to resell these any where? I know all the you need a script and everything, But I just thought if someone needed them, since I can not use them, would be better than just throwing them out.

i doubt you could resell them (it would be like reselling your prescription medication)

Save the receipt (for your taxes) and just throw them out.

It is illegal to resell any prescription. Call your doctor and ask to return them. Mine has offered to take back the contacts I don't use for the year if I get a new prescription.

Thanks for all the responses. I guess my lense is one they don't keep in stock, so they will only take back unopen boxes so they can return them to the manufacterer, or wherever.

If they had doctors who knew what they were doing, I wouldn't have to return anything.

Thanks for letting me vent and answering my questions.

I once had a doctor mis-prescribe lenses for me. The eyeglasses came in, and as soon as I put them on, I started to develop a splitting headache. They rechecked my eyes (different optometrist on duty) and found the prescription was not only wrong, I was still at the same prescription as my previous lenses.

They offered to give me a store credit on a new pair of eyeglasses. I told them forget it because 1) I didn't trust them; and 2) I didn't need new glasses in the first place. They fought, but after I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, they changed their minds and refunded my money.

I think optometrists prescribe stronger glasses/contacts for your eyes. I think all are like that. I went through five different doctors since the sixth grade. I still get a fatty headache once I put on new contacts/glasses. It's normal. They just want you to have worse vision because they want your money. I bet they want to make your vision even more worse just so you can come back with another appt.

I just wanted you all to know that after getting my first box, the people at the "store" asked why I only got one box, and I told her the story and she said, oh, no we'll order you another. So I now have both boxes and gave the other back. Will I ever go there again? No.

I had that happen one time but it wasn't because they messed up it was because my vision got worse. I always get four boxes of contacts to last me a year. My vision got worse before my year was up and they said come in and give us back the boxes and they would give me a new contact lens exam and get me new contacts, no charge! I never knew that they would take lenses back as long as they weren't open.

They also told me that they can get a more accurate exam with a glasses exam then with a contact lens exam. I can't tell the difference though. I wear both glasses and contacts.

Also, in addition to the BBB, I might would notify the manufacturer of the contacts and let them know what happened. I mean, I'm sure the maker of the contacts doesn't want people to get turned off of their brand because of some goofy doctor....I mean, you said you were "shafted."
