Costco - Sharp 32" LCD HDTV for $649.99

A 32" 1080p LCD tv is kinda unnecessary--most people cannot discern the difference between 720p and 1080p on a 32", especially when viewed more than 3-4 ft away.

Also, 32" 1080p LCDs are relatively uncommon at this time--Sharp and Samsung each have a model or two out now, but good luck finding those. If you find one, be prepared to pay TWICE as much as a 32" 720p tv now. You'd be better off waiting a year or two for prices to go down.

I upgraded from a 480p -> 1080p HDTV (thanks to Costco satisfaction policy), most of the time I find myself running at lower res or I can't really tell between 480p / 1080p... maybe because I'm sitting 10ft away.

If I can go back to the time I upgraded, I would've saved the money and gone with something like this one, but then again some people can tell and it bugs them.

It all depends on the size of the TV. 50" and above, you WILL notice a difference between SD and HD sources, if you're sitting 15-20 feet away. If you're sitting 10 feet away from a 32" LCD, then you won't notice the difference.

spoofee, What did you mean by thanks to their satisfaction policy?

My guess is that Spoofee is talking about Costo's old return policy. Before March 24, 2007, Costco had a 3-year return policy. Now it is only 90 days. So basically, if you bought a TV 3 years ago, you can return it and buy a better TV now for the same price or cheaper.

I have one of these. $650 is a good deal IMHO - this is a good low cost LCD TV and looks great on the bedroom wall...

Good:
- QAM tuner + Cable service
= plenty of HD content ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS, FOX
= unscrambled digital channels (at least with my cable provider - Charter)
- 2 HDMI inputs
- nice looking set
- good remote - favorites presets
- good contrast, color, picture on this LCD - way above other low costers
- good response

Bad:
- sound isn't the best, but is good if you run through a stand alone audio system

Recommended.

720p resolution.. :[

You're getting suckered by the manufacturer if you pay extra for a 1080i 32" LCD. I'd challenge anyone to discern the difference in picture quality.

Why pay extra for a statistic that has no tangible benefit?

Official Costco Return Policy

Sorry but as a Costco Employee I need to clarify something...

Merchandise: We guarantee your satisfaction on every product we sell with a full refund. Exceptions: Televisions, projectors, computers, cameras, camcorders, iPOD / MP3 players and cellular phones must be returned within 90 days of purchase for a refund.

Where does it say Costco has/had a 3-year time limit? With the exceptions listed, there is no, I repeat NO time limit on items purchased at Costco or Costco.com.
People have often added thier own 'wording' about our policy but it is posted at every Costco warehouse, its posted via the link I just gave and that IS our policy. Period.

Now, don't think Costco turns a blind eye to return-abuse. We track every purchase/return and if abuse of our policy is determined, action may be taken. It was a big reason the previous '6-month return limit' was impossed on Computers - and was a big part of the current 90-Day limitation on applicable items.

Personally, I could care less what you do with your items - but I needed to clear up the confusion about Costco's Return Policy as it is OFTEN mis-represented on Spoofee.com.

picked one up yesterday, shipping from costco.com was up near 40 bucks for me so i just drove to the store.

The screen looks smaller when your looking at it face to face, but i guess thats just an illusion. Picture is good, controls are easy, sound is good.

Ive been looking for a lower cost flat panel for my bedroom, was looking into samsungs, LG, and toshiba - but they were considerably more money. I dont watch tv in my room enough to justify the extra cost. But for a bedroom TV thats well priced this was good for me.

nice because what i wasnt going to do was buy some brand that no one has ever heard of...that just looks cheap in my eyes. I didnt want someone to walk into my room and see a poloroid TV or vizio or something. Sharp is still a TV name brand even if it aint the best.

Does this apply to exchanges as well? What if I just want to exchange for same model or something at the same or higher price?
All I read on costco is RETURN, says nothing about exchange
