with regards to energy and the environment, some things have changed a little, eg, more people recycle because waste management companies have changed, auto manufacturers have tried to improve gas efficiency, obviously with government requirements (remember when american car makers bashed japanese car makers for using aluminum?), Gore's film got the nod from Hollywood (I think any other celebrity could have done this), agriculture has tried to use less pesticides and organic foods are more popular now, rechargeable batteries are more popular, energy efficient lights are more popular, energy hogging CRT monitors and TV's are out of production, CFC's are banned, etc. I think this generation is being spoiled by low cost consumerism like from walmart, which encourages consumption of cheap disposable products and shifts (and hides) environmentally unsafe manufacturing in china, its basically ignorance is bliss. i'm not so into all this activism, but i do try in some way to do my best. i will say i bought a hybrid car and i knew i would never recover the premium i paid but i feel better for the environment, just like the feeling when you recycle. plus its a snub to angry middle eastern countries.
