HEY!!!! I just got back from CVS. They have these new machines that you scan your card and the CVS BUCKS come out. Funny thing I went there yesterday and got 5.00. And when I used the machine it gave me 25.00, plus my other coupons. The girl in the store told me that if you come on the 1st every quarter you can go up to the machine. *** Note, go the day before and get more :) So I got 30.00! Plus my other coupons I got 69.00 worth of stuff today for 15.00.
Next date is July 1st,Oct 1st. I am plugging this on my cell reminder hahhaha

Hope you all get as lucky as I did today!:teeth:

I haven't been to CVS in a while. Maybe I should be a religious CVS shopper now

***To all you money saving ladies (and gents):

Is CVS really a good place to buy? Is it cheaper than Wal-Mart? Is it worth it?
I normally go on base to shop, but the commissary AND Wal-Mart are a little bit of a drive. I have a CVS next door to my local Blockbuster (which I get free rentals on the rewards card Mon-Wed)

I would think walmart is cheaper.

CVS has great deals all the time. They take manufacture coupons, and theirs and they do combine, they always have great deals on make-up. Today I got tons of nail polish, and make-up buy one get one free. I mean of course any store you go to is going to have a better sale on some stuff than others, but if you have you hustle on you will always come out a winner there. hahha But what I really like is Cash Back. You can get great deals if you have a coupon , and it is on sale there with the cash back on top of it.

Example : Buy 2 hair dyes get 6.00 cash back + the item is on sale already cheaper. And if you have a coupon on top of it you will be making money and getting the stuff for free.:teeth:

it depends if they have a sale on items you really want and you have coupons then its a great deal, you have to look through their weekly ads and find what you are looking for, otherwise its a rip, i only do business when i have gift cards, extra bucks when doing a survey, or when i see something on sale w/coupon. Walmart is far more cheaper, CVS is expensive b/c its quick to get in and get out, but not always and the people at CVS are just rude, i haven't gone in one time that i enjoyed the experience, they always find something wrong with my coupons or they decide to change the policies to adjust their attitudes for the day. i can go on about CVS but i wont :ack: lol

i'll stop by my CVS and see what it has for me, i always use that scanner machine, its great, i dont have to ask the rude employees there for my extra bucks back coupons.

Extra bucks earned during the previous quarter begin printing out on April 1st. This is 2% of your net spending (after all coupons). I've never gotten any "free" money at CVS--just the EB I was entitled to receive. I agree with lovefreebees that their employees are very poorly trained, the policies vary widely from store to store, and it is really not a great shopping experience--unless you have a "connection" with the people at a particular store. I did have that for a long time, but now I don't, so I have mostly stopped shopping at CVS.

CVS customer service has gone way down hill in the last couple of years. I used to find their employees really helpful and nice, but lately it's like they're doing you a favor when they cash out your merchandise. And god forbid I have to ask them a question. You'd think I was asking them to give up their firstborn.

But, they do have some good sales on products I use, so I still shop there.

That's crazy! Crazy good, that is! What does this machine look like? Near the register? I wonder if all of the stores have them. I'm in a small town, so if it involved money to get the machine, I bet we don't have one. I'll look. Thanks for the tips!

I too agree with the service. I go in a lot first thing in the morning on the way to work and they will be having a conversation/meeting with the manager right out by the cash register while I am standing there waiting to be rung out. Hey, have your meeting BEFORE you open the store not AFTER.

I did not make a purchase in CVS for a while… might be that’s why I did not get big coupons
Save $1 on CVS Brand Paper Towels, 3 pk or larger
Save $1 on any 2 Gold Emblem Nuts, Pretzels, or Crackers
Both expires 4/8/09

Those are called the "default coupons" and everyone gets those. They usually change the items every two weeks or so. You can scan your card every day and get those coupons. If you didn't spend any money at CVS from the middle of Dec. to the middle of March, you won't get any extra bucks coupon because you didn't earn anything (minimum is $25 spent to earn a $.50 EB). The scanners are usually at the front of one of the aisles.

The machine in my store is the normal Red CVS color
(looks like a big version of Targets price scanner). They had it in the front of the store. You scan your card, and the coupons print out the side :)

PS... Ther service at mine are great. Of course the ones late at night ( kids) goof around, but that doesnt bother me because they always keep the line going. They are very personable at mine also. Always on a first name basis, even a few times they bring my little one aka my avatar photo behind the register to help ring things up. And I live in NJ and its hard to find people at those types of jobs that arent rude hahha

I love the CVS I shop at. I am in Ohio and the people that work there are great! Very friendly and very helpful! Sorry that it is not like that everywhere:(

So since I haven't purchased anything at CVS in a LOOOOOONG time, I'm not eligible for the original post? Not being sarcastic, just trying to clarify before I make a trip out after work.

And this is also for future use, so I can start shopping there :teeth:

Sometimes CVS will run a promotion that if you transfer or fill a new prescription that you will get an incentive (anywhere from $20 to $30 usually). Some of them will add the coupon to your CVS card to print out when you check out at the register and some will just load a gift card on the spot for you too.

I'm not exactly sure why the OP got coupons, but I suspect it had to do with the quarterly extra bucks and/or RX. CVS doesn't give money away for no reason. Sometimes you will get a coupon for $5 off a $25 purchase, but what OP said was that she just got $25 out of the blue--like a lottery. I've never heard of that. I would PM the OP and inquire if she was due EB for an RX or a survey, and also if she earned EB during the last quarter. Your total spending is always at the bottom of your receipt during the quarter, so you can see how much to expect (just multiply the spending by 2%). I did not think you were being sarcastic. I'm also curious if there is something I don't know about going on.

I love CVS--if you shop the sales and use the Extra Bucks you can get some excellent prices. Ours has very friendly employees, the one I go to has a nice older lady that works at the counter, and she always points out deals for me. If she sees something I am buying that is on sale, she will say, "You know we have this same product in a different brand cheaper, and it's a better deal." I always have a good experience there!

I only shop at CVS if the ad says "It's like getting it for free" (after extra bucks) and I use coupons on the 'free' things, so that way I end up making money there. I do a few transactions during one trip, and use the EB on the next transaction, etc. walmart is alot cheaper, but CVS occassionally is worth visiting :) And if you ever reach your limit on your cvs card (ex: limit 2 per household) you can use your friends card, or if you lose your card, you can get another one for extra savings :) your EB have to match the card you use though. So it takes being well organized, but it does pay :)
