Share your favorite sport with your favorite girl! The National Golf Course Owners Association, in cooperation with The PGA, LPGA, LPGA-USGA Girls Golf, EWGA, and Golf for Women Magazine, is sponsoring "Take Your Daughter to the Course Week," July 10-16, 2006. Use this opportunity to take your daughter, granddaughter, or niece to your favorite course and introduce her to your favorite pastime.
Brad Faxon, holder of eight PGA Tour titles and winner of the 2005 Payne Stewart Award, is the national spokesperson for the 2006 event. "The golf industry needs to focus on attracting more girls to the game. Together with my four daughters, I am happy to support the efforts of the NGCOA's "Take Your Daughter to the Course Week" and encourage everyone to take advantage of this event to grow the game of golf. Get your girls out on the course!"
Courses will offer a free greens fee to young ladies accompanied by a paying adult all during the week and at least one free clinic. Many courses will offer additional special promotions; contact your local participating course to find out what they will be offering. Last year, over 1,060 courses and 64,000 girls participated in “Take Your Daughter to the Course Week.” The 2006 event is expected to be an even greater success.
